At IKEA, it's okay to change your mind! Sometimes what seemed perfect for your home, office, or garden turns out not to be. Returning a product to us is easy and hassle-free, no matter how or at which IKEA store in Sweden you made your purchase.

Purchase on approval

We want you to feel confident shopping with us. That's why we have a 365-day purchase on approval to help you if you change your mind or if things don't turn out the way you want them to. Our purchase on approval means you'll get a refund if you change your mind. 

Remember to bring your receipt and, if you paid by credit card, the same credit card you used to make the purchase. Please bear in mind that a store co-worker will always conduct a final assessment.

The purchase on approval does not cover custom-made products such as counter-tops and wall tiles, or food products and appliances that have been installed. Products that are dirty, stained or damaged are also not covered by our purchase on approval.

Right to withdrawal (online and phone orders)

Customers always have a 14-day return period for orders placed by phone, via the IKEA app or online. The right to withdrawal period begins when you receive your item. For you to exercise the right of withdrawal, you need to be able to demonstrate that you have changed your mind within this timeframe and notified IKEA accordingly. If you change your mind, you can contact IKEA Customer service. 

If you change your mind and return the item, you only have to pay for the cost of the return if you return it by post and for any loss of value the item has suffered. Refunds will be made as soon as possible and no later than 14 days after the items have been returned or from the date on which you show us that you have returned the items.

The right to withdrawal (online and phone orders) does not apply to custom-made products such as counter-tops and wall tiles, or food products and appliances that have been installed. The return period also does not apply to products that are dirty, stained or damaged.

How to make a return

Express returns

Save time at the store by pre-registering your return. Once registered, you will receive a QR code via SMS or email. When you arrive at Customer Service in the store, you’ll be placed in a separate queue.

This service is only available for private customers. Remember to bring the QR code (valid for 14 days) and your proof of purchase/receipt.  

Return by post

If you can't make it to one of our stores, you can always return your products by post by simply filling out our online form at the link below.

Please remember that you bear responsibility for the return until we have received and registered it, so always keep your delivery receipt and pack the item safely. The cost to return an item is the same as its original shipping cost.

We cannot accept complaints via this form.

To return your package this way, it should be approximately 60 x 60 x 150 cm in size and weigh a maximum of 20 kg. If you encounter any issues with this, you can contact us here

Return In-store

Whether you bought your item online or from one of our stores, you can always return your item at any IKEA store across Sweden. Remember to bring the receipt/proof of purchase! If you paid by card, make sure to bring the card with the same card number.

Return by Truck

If you are unable to visit any of our stores, or if the products are too large to be returned via postal package, you can always return your products by booking a return delivery.

The return cost by truck is equal to the cost of indoor delivery.
