We never publish the text that you have posted together with the Visual content, but we keep it to understand the context in which the Visual content was posted. We want to recognise you as a copyright holder, which means we will always display your username together with the Visual content when we publish it on our websites, social media or other digital communication or sales channels.

We know how important it is for you to understand how we use your data. This privacy policy sets out how and why we collect, use, store and share your personal data when you agree to the Terms and Conditions for use of the Content with us ​​to use your social media content with IKEA furniture or products (the "Visual content").

We encourage you to read this privacy policy carefully and if you have any questions or concerns about how we use your personal data, please contact IKEA Customer Services and we will try to resolve your concerns. We are IKEA Retail Services AB ("IKEA Retail" or "we", "us") and our registered address is HUS A PL3 COPY 1, 205 28 Malmö, Sweden. We are part of the Ingka Group, which means we are ultimately owned by Ingka Holding B.V.. IKEA Retail is the data controller for all personal information it collects, processes and holds about you in connection with your photo.

What personal data is collected and why?

Accepting IKEA Retail's Terms and Conditions for the use of the Content is entirely voluntary. However, if you accept these Terms, we need to know who you are so that we can associate the Visual content with you and document our right to use it. This means that we collect your social media username ("handle") and store it together with the Visual content; we also collect the text that you have posted together with the Visual content to understand the context in which the Visual content has been published and to assess whether it is appropriate for use by Ingka Group. We always want to recognise you as the copyright owner of the Visual content, which means that your social media username will appear together with the Visual content when it is published on IKEA retailer websites, social media platforms and other digital communication or sales channels.

Legal basis for processing

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is the agreement (Terms and Conditions for use of the Content between you and us) regarding our use of the Visual content. When the Visual content is transferred to other Ingka Group companies, they will process the personal data based on the Terms and Conditions for use of the Content to identify you as the copyright holder of the Content.

The legal basis for initiating the search for users on social media channels is legitimate interest. Since you have tagged IKEA in your social media posts, we have a legitimate interest in looking at these posts.

Who has access to your data?

Whenever IKEA Retail transfers your Visual content to another Ingka Group company, your social media username will be transferred along with the Visual content and associated text to that Ingka company. The receiving Ingka company will only use your personal data in the manner described above.

The Visual content is stored in a database operated by IKEA IT AB (another Ingka Group company) and we have also engaged external service providers to help us with data collection and hosting of the database. These service providers may transfer your data outside the European Union, in which case the transfer of your personal data is secured by additional safeguards, such as a contract containing standard data protection clauses adopted by the European Commission. Access to, correction or deletion of data

If you wish to receive a copy of your personal data or if you wish to ask us to correct or delete it, you can contact IKEA Customer Services for assistance.

How long will we keep your data?

We will retain your social media username and the Visual content you have posted from the date you confirm our use of the image and for as long as we find the Visual content relevant to the business or until you terminate the Terms and Conditions for use of the Content. The database of customer images is continuously reviewed to ensure that we do not store images (and related personal data) longer than necessary.

How do we secure your data?

We take the security of your personal data very seriously. We have implemented various strategies, controls, policies and measures to keep your data secure and keep these measures under close scrutiny. We protect your data by using encryption techniques and other security measures such as firewalls and password protection. We do our best to ensure that your data is protected and only available to Ingka Group employees (or subcontractors) who need it to perform their duties.
