3. Legal basis, retention period and purpose of the processing of personal data by IKEA

 

Once you have provided personal data to us at IKEA, we use this data for the purposes and on the legal basis set out below:

A. Camera surveillance for crime prevention

The legal basis for our camera surveillance is our legitimate interest. For security reasons, IKEA uses camera surveillance to investigate and prevent crime. Recorded material is only kept for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose, but not more than 60 days, unless there are good reasons to keep them longer, for example when they are part of a police investigation.

B. To control the number of visitors in the store

The legal basis is our legitimate interest to automatically count the number of visitors and customer flow in the store. This processing is necessary to ensure a good and safe shopping experience for visitors entering our store. No material will be recorded.

4. Your rights

At IKEA, we always want to be transparent about how we process your data. If you wish to have access to your personal data processing, you have the right to request access to your data via a data subject access request. If we receive a request from you, we may ask for additional information to ensure that we are disclosing the data to the right person. Any request for an extract from the registry must be in writing, duly signed by you. You always have the right to request a rectification of your personal data.

You can request the deletion of your data to the extent consistent with applicable law and in accordance with the agreements entered into with you, and we will of course always do our best to fulfil your request for deletion. You also have the right to object to our processing (e.g. if any of the data collected is inaccurate). In some cases, IKEA may not be able to fulfil your request for erasure if the data is needed to comply with applicable law.

If you believe that we have processed your personal data incorrectly, you can always contact us at IKEA. The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection is responsible for supervising data protection legislation and anyone who believes that personal data is being processed incorrectly can submit a complaint to The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection
