How do I extend the lifespan of my outdoor furniture?
With proper care, your outdoor furniture will remain both attractive and functional year after year. By cleaning regularly, sanding when necessary and treating the wood with TRIXIG wood stain, you protect the surface against moisture, sunlight and wear. When the furniture is not in use, TOSTERÖ furniture covers help protect it from rain, dirt and fading.
Step by step : How to care for your outdoor furniture
- Clean the outdoor furniture.
Clean your outdoor furniture with a mild soapy solution and water. Use a sponge or a soft brush.
Then rinse off with a garden hose
Do not use a high-pressure washer on you outdoor furniture - it can damage the wood and roughen the fibres. - Let the furniture dry.
Let the outdoor furniture air-dry in dry weather for about 24 hours so the wood has tome to dry through before you continue. - Sand the surface.
Sand the outdoor furniture with a fine sandpaper, for example frit 120-180, to remove any loose stain and smooth the surface.
Wipe off dust and dirt after sanding. - Re-stain the furniture.
Re-stain the furniture using TRIXIG wood stain. It protects the wood from the elements and gives the furniture new life.
Use stain and not oil on our factory-stained wooden furniture. Since the furniture is already stained, the oil cannot penetrates the wood as it should. This can result in a patchy and sticky surface.
To extend the lifespan and preserve the beautiful look of our outdoor furniture, we recommend that you clean and stain it 1-2 times a year depending on how exposed it is to sun, rain and dirt. - Protect the furniture when not in use.
You can also complement with our TOSTERÖ furniture covers, which protect the furniture when not in use - an easy way to reduce wear from sun, rain and dirt and help your outdoor furniture last longer.
To take care of the cushions, you can use, the VÄTTERSÖ storage box, which protects the cushions from dirt and moisture when they are not in use. This helps keeps the cushions fresh for longer. It also makes it easier to quickly create an inviting outdoor space when the sun comes out.
