Where should I mount the hinges on PAX wardrobes?

Where you should install your hinges depends on which PAX frame you have. A 236 cm high frame uses 4 KOMPLEMENT hinges, while a 201 cm high frame uses 3. All hinges should be fitted into the pre-drilled holes. Whichever hinges you use for your PAX wardrobe, you can choose to hang the doors to open from either the right or the left.

Placement of the hinges on 236 cm high wardrobes (4 hinges)

  • Top hinges: hole 3/4 from the top
  • Middle hinges: holes 32/33 and 38/39 from the bottom
  • Bottom hinges: hole 3/4 from the bottom


Placement of the hinges on 201 cm high wardrobes (3 hinges)

  • Top hinges: hole 3/4 from the top
  • The middle hinges at the right-hung door: hole 29/30 from the bottom
  • The middle hinges at the left-hung door: hole 30/31 from the bottom
  • Bottom hinges: hole 3/4 from the bottom
The hinges end up at different heights on 201 cm high PAX wardrobes because the doors for left and right hanging are the same and there is no middle hole on the wardrobe doors. The hole for the hinges on the doors is not exactly in the middle of the door, therefore it ends up in different positions depending on whether the door is hung to the left or right. 

Placement of soft-closing hinges on PAX 

When you install your KOMPLEMENT soft-closing hinges, you will see that two of the hinges have grey plastic fittings. These are the soft-closing mechanism and they should always be mounted at the top and bottom of the PAX wardrobe. Hinges without plastic fittings must be mounted in the middle, regardless of whether they are mounted on a 201 cm high frame or a 236 cm high frame.
