How does a planning of children's bedroom work?
At IKEA, we have a planning tool for SMÅSTAD that is for the little people. You can also book a meeting with an interior designer at an IKEA store or online to get help planning the entire children's room.
During a children's room planning meeting, you'll meet with an interior designer at your local IKEA store or online, whichever works best for you.
Here's how it works:
- Get inspired. Take a moment and browse ideas for children's rooms and explore our planning tool for SMÅSTAD. Feel free to write down what styles, colors, products, and ideas you like. This helps our sales representative get a clearer picture of your wishes and create a result that suits you.
If you use our planning tool to create your child's wardrobe, be sure to save the design code. You need it to be able to edit your drawing or use it during a meeting with a sales representative. You can find your planning code at the bottom of the planning tool page by selecting "Finish". If you'd prefer to receive a link or email with your specific design and planning code, select "Save for later" and follow the on-screen steps. - Book an appointment. You can choose to book your appointment either online or at the nearest IKEA store. This booking is valid for help with an entire children's room.
- Measure your space. In order for our sales representative to be able to help you in the best way, we need measurements and information about the room. Measure and note the height, width, and depth of the space, as well as the location and dimensions of electrical outlets, doors, windows, and other details that may affect the planning.
- What do you need? Make a list of all your basic needs and wants to create a dream place for your child.
- Take pictures. A photo of the room can be very useful in your planning.
- Do you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment? Follow the link in your confirmation email if you need to reschedule or cancel your planning time.
- Discuss your dreams and wishes with an IKEA sales representative during your visit. You will receive a 3D drawing and a shopping list with everything you need. The first planning meeting lasts approximately 60 minutes.
- Take the time to go through the plan and next steps. Do you need to make any adjustments or are you happy with the final design? When you're ready, you can visit IKEA in stores or online to complete your order.
