Spice up the sauce!

When your Sunday roast is over and there’s still some sauce or gravy left, don’t despair. Our very own Food Designer, Daniel Yngvesson, shares his quick and easy recipe for upscaling it with new flavours. Enjoy it with rice, pasta, or your favourite side dish – the possibilities are endless.
On a cutting board with garlic, mushrooms, herbs and shallots, a whisk is in a saucepan with ALLEMANSRÄTTEN savory sauce mix.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg ALLEMANSRÄTTEN savoury sauce mix
  • 3 dl cold water
  • 1/2 dl whipping cream

Ingredients for variations

  • Mushrooms
  • Dijon mustard
  • Herbs
  • Sun-dried tomatoes
  • Onion
  • Green pepper
  • Spinach
  • Garlic

Check your fridge and storage:

Any single onion? A pepper left? Still some leftover mushrooms or a near-empty bag of sun-dried tomatoes? These ingredients are just mentioned for variations – pick and choose what you have already and make the most of every bite.

Step by step

  1. Slice, chop, cook or fry the extra ingredient you want to add to your sauce.
  2. Prepare the sauce according to the instructions on the package, and add your chosen ingredient to the mix.
  3. Serve with meat or greens, and enjoy a unique, tasty sauce that will elevate any dish.

Did you know?

This savoury, light brown cream sauce is a Swedish classic that accompanies most meat dishes, and meatballs, in particular. When cooking it from scratch, it gets its salty, rich flavour from meat broth.
