Towards a green life at home

Healthy and sustainable living is something we at IKEA can never get tired of talking about. And we believe that it matters to you as well. That’s why we have conducted a survey to find out how people feel about their green life at home and what we all can do to make a difference.

You do a lot already

Our survey shows that 9 out of 10 people at least partially live a nature friendly life. It is mostly linked to saving water, electricity and sorting waste. But greener actions go hand in hand with whatever we do. According to the results, sustainability is also in top four criteria when making purchase decisions, together with price, quality and function.

Facing the barriers

Despite the positive results, 1/2 of people still feel that they’re not doing enough to save the planet. Some admit wasting food, throwing away clothing and electronics, or using products that are not environmentally friendly. Meanwhile, the others (1/4) believe that living green is expensive and requires too much effort. But is it really so?

Every little counts

We believe that living a more conscious life is simple and includes many small things you can do. Just by air-drying your clothes, washing only full loads of dishes, turning off lights and idle electronics before you leave home, or growing your own veggies, you can create a positive change. That’s the beauty of small actions: they all add up!
