Measuring

If you order our kitchen measuring service, a technician will take pictures and gather all the details listed below. 

If you’re measuring your kitchen yourself, be sure to collect the following information to plan accurately:

Room dimensions

You’ll need measurements for the width, wall lengths and ceiling height. On each wall, mark the locations of connections for electricity, water, gas and ventilation. Measure and note the position of any obstacles such as radiators, support poles, columns, chimneys, etc.

Windows

Measure the window dimensions, the distance from the floor to the bottom of the window, dimensions of the window frame. Also measure the space required to fully open each window.

Doors

Measure door dimensions, the distance from the floor to the bottom of the door, door thickness and frame dimensions. Also note the space required to fully open each door.

Electrical

For all electrical outlets, measure the distance from the floor and from the sidewalls. List the type of electrical connection (single-phase or three-phase). Note the amperage and the number of appliances to be connected (e.g. dishwasher, fridge, hob, oven). Measure and record the locations of all light switches.

Ventilation

Measure the diameter of the vent (and if necessary, check compatibility with the IKEA flexible exhaust pipe), the distance from the floor to the bottom of the vent opening, and the distance from the sidewall to the start of the vent opening.

Water connections

Measure the distances from each water source to the sidewalls, the distance from the floor and from the wall to the water drain. Note any additional water connections, such as for a dishwasher or washing machine.

Gas connections

Measure the distance from the floor to the gas connection and from the sidewall to the gas connection. Record the diameter of the gas pipe, as well as the distance from the floor and sidewall to the pipe itself.

The measurement technician will collect or verify the following details about your room:

• Room dimensions (height, length, width)
• Dimensions and positions of windows and doors
• Location of external walls
• Width of all windows (including sills) and their height from the floor
• Location of sloping ceilings
• Positions of electrical, water and gas connections, as well as other fixtures such as pipes and radiators
• Confirmation that all room corners are square
• Confirmation that all included walls are plumb

Note:

Walls and ceilings must be finished; plumbing, gas and electrical connections need to be in place at the time of the appointment.

Measuraments usually are sent to client 5 days after the technician has been at the location. Our technician will inform you about the fimeframe after contacting you.

PDF file with measuraments will be sent to costumer's e-mail adress.

Once the measurements are received, the customer can go to an IKEA store or contact a planning specialist to start planning the kitchen using accurate data.

Customers can contact customer service or visit a store for assistance on next steps.

After measurements are taken:

• The client receives the data.
• The kitchen is planned (with the help of an employee or independently).
• The client places an order.

If assembly is not required, the client has the option of receiving ready-made modules from the warehouse.
