At the same time, we work to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and continuously improve the way we use resources. This includes increasing the use of renewable electricity, improving energy efficiency, reducing food waste in our restaurants, and finding ways to use resources more efficiently in our daily operations. By integrating these efforts into our business, we aim to lead by example in the markets where we operate.
Circularity in product and design
At IKEA, we aim to design our products with circularity in mind from the very beginning. This means creating products that can be easily assembled, disassembled, repaired, reused, and eventually recycled, helping to extend their lifespan and reduce waste. We also continuously work to increase the use of renewable and recyclable materials, while making it easier to recover valuable resources at the end of a product’s life cycle.

Through IWAY, we set clear requirements for working conditions, labour rights, environmental performance and animal welfare. IWAY applies to our suppliers and service providers working with IKEA, helping us create a better everyday life for people around the world.
Renewable energy in our operations
To reduce our climate footprint, we are working to transition to renewable energy across the entire IKEA value chain. As part of this commitment, our stores in Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn use electricity generated from renewable energy sources.
