Curious how IKEA’s soft toys are settling into their new home right by the scramble crossing? Three Tokyo-based female illustrators have partnered with IKEA to create comics depicting iconic Shibuya moments.

IKEA Retail Japan today announces that it has created a series of comics showing how the company’s popular soft toys find happiness at home in Shibuya. The comics, created with Tokyo-based illustrators, will appear in external communications and in-store promotions, to commemorate the Monday, November 30 launch of IKEA Shibuya.

Female illustrators Emi Ozaki, Unpis and Kei Mogari each brought their unique styles to designing the characters and interpreting the iconic world of IKEA.

Emi Ozaki:Ozaki is both an illustrator and artist who creates humorous worlds inhabited by a mixture of strange and pop characters. She works across various genres and media, including book covers, magazines and consumer products.

Unpis:Unpis started out at a design agency and then a manufacturing company before becoming a freelance illustrator. Her artistic expression is rooted in neutral lines, shapes and illustrations, often with a playful, humorous touch.

Kei Mogari:Mogari is a global designer who has worked mainly on book covers, insert illustrations and product design. On occasion, she displays her works in solo exhibitions and at events. Her favorite food is IKEA smoked salmon.

Currently, colorful illustration by Umpis has covered the façade of the Inogashira Street side of IKEA Shibuya. Look forward to more from these three talented artists at IKEA Shibuya or on our website.

IKEA Japan also announces today that it will be giving away IKEA Shibuya-exclusive eco bags and posters on a first-come basis to IKEA Family members who shop at IKEA Shibuya (certain conditions apply).
