RULES FOR IKEA Family MEMBERS
IKEA Family Membership Terms and Conditions
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Rules intend to set forth the terms and conditions under which IKEA JAPAN K.K. (hereinafter referred to as “IKEA”) provides such services as mentioned in the following Article (hereinafter referred to as the “Service”) to IKEA Family Members (hereinafter referred to as “Member” or “Members”) as provided for in Article 3.
Article 2 (Service)
Details of and stores providing the Service will be announced by IKEA from time to time on its website or in other media; provided, however, such details and stores may be changed without giving prior notice.
As a part of the Service, IKEA may deliver or mail information and other messages related to the Service to the e-mail address or postal address of each of the Members.
Article 3 (Members)
“Members” means individuals who are above 16 years old or older that have applied for a membership agreement to receive the Service (application for admission) and completed the admission procedure as prescribed, and then for whom IKEA has approved such application; provided, however, IKEA may not approve the application of certain individuals if IKEA has determined that approval as a Member is inappropriate. Applicants who are minors will require parental consent.
Applicants for the Service shall be deemed to have agreed to these Rules at the time of their application.
IKEA will issue the IKEA Family member ID (hereinafter referred to as the “Membership Card”) to Members for whom IKEA has approved the applications.
Article 4 (Notification of Changes)
Any Member changing his or her information, such as the postal address, name, contact details and e-mail address, shall notify IKEA thereof in an immediate manner suing such means as prescribed by IKEA.
IKEA shall not assume any liability whatsoever for any inconvenience or disadvantage that the Member may suffer as a result of no such notification as mentioned in the preceding paragraph.
Article 5 (Personal Information of Members)
IKEA shall treat the personal information of Members in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
IKEA and any third party to whom any of the operations of IKEA is entrusted may transfer the personal information of Members to a third party operating overseas and Members agree to the foregoing.
IKEA shall be entitled to use personal information of Members even after the termination of the membership agreement when IKEA finds it necessary to do so.
In the event where any information different from personal information that IKEA obtained from a Member in connection with the Service is provided by the Member to IKEA, then IKEA may consider the personal information provided afterwards is up-to-date information about the Member and update the personal information of the Member recorded for the purpose of the Service.
Article 6 (Withdrawal from Membership)
When a Member wishes to withdraw from the membership, the Member shall notify IKEA thereof in accordance with prescribed procedures and the Member shall be regarded to have withdrawn from the membership on the day when IKEA has completed the withdrawal procedures.
Article 7 (Cessation of Use and Termination)
If any Member falls under any one of the cases listed in the following items, IKEA may cause such Member to cease the use of the Service or terminate their membership agreements without giving any notice or demand whatsoever:
Where it is found that the Member provided false information to IKEA at the time of application for membership or the notification of any change in membership information or that the Member failed to promptly give notice of a change;
Where the Member causes any hindrance to the operation of the Service;
Where the Member commits an act which IKEA finds inappropriate or there is a reasonable ground to suspect that the Member is likely to commit such act;
Where the Member has not purchased any products using their IKEA Family ID during the period of forty-eight (48) months (four (4) years) counted from the most recent date of purchase using the Card (the most recent date of purchase recorded in the IKEA’s system); Where the Member who is a minor fails to receive parental consent; or
Otherwise where the Member is in breach of any of provisions of these Rules.
Article 8 (Suspension or Discontinuance of Service)
IKEA may suspend the Service without any liability whatsoever in the following situations:
(1)Where it is unavoidable to suspend the Service owing to the maintenance or construction of the system for the Service;
(2)Where it becomes difficult to provide the Service due to a natural disaster or for any other cause not attributable to IKEA; and
(3)Otherwise, where IKEA finds it necessary to suspend the Service for any operational reason.
IKEA may discontinue the Service by giving prior notice to Members without assuming any liability whatsoever.
Article 9 (Exemption from Liability)
IKEA shall not assume any liability whatsoever for any information or any other materials that a Member will obtain as a result of the use of the Service.
IKEA shall not assume any liability whatsoever for any loss or any other inconveniences that may arise out of or in connection with the Service.
IKEA shall not assume any liability whatsoever for any delay in, no arrival of or any other failure in communication related to the Service.
Article 10 (Management, Etc. of Membership Card, Number and Password)
Each Member shall use and manage his or her own Membership Card, its number and password with the due care of a prudent manager.
Each Member shall not allow any third party to use or transfer or lend to any third party his or her membership card, its number or password.
If a Member has lost or had stolen his or her membership card, the Member may apply for the reissuance of the Membership Card from the IKEA Family Member page of the IKEA’s website, provided, however, whether or not IKEA reissues the Membership Card to the Member, IKEA shall not assume any liability whatsoever for any damage that the Member may suffer due to the lost or stolen card.
Article 11 (Copyright, Etc.)
Members shall not make use of any information or other data provided under the Service for the benefit of themselves or any third party, except where it is permitted pursuant to the Copyright Act and other laws and regulations, For the purpose of this Article, “use” shall include, but not be limited to, reproduction, public transmission, dictation, exhibition, distribution, lending, translation and adaptation.
Article 12 (Matters Prohibited For Members)
Members shall not engage in any of the following acts in connection with the use of the Service:
To use the membership card, its number or password of any of other Members without due authorization;
To infringe on the copyright or any other right of any of other Members, any third party or IKEA;
To speak ill of or slander the reputation of any of other Members, any third party or IKEA;
To act in violation of any law or regulation or in breach of these Rules;
Any act that is likely to fall under any one of the acts listed in the preceding items; or
Any other act that IKEA considers inappropriate from the viewpoint of the operation of the Service
Article 13 (Assignment of Rights)
Members shall not assign to any third party any of their rights or obligations under these Rules.
Article 14 (Change in These Rules)
IKEA reserves the right to amend these Rules from time to time by notifying you of the fact that these Rules are being amended, the content of the amendments and the effective date of the amendments on the internet or other means, if the amendments are considered appropriate in light of their necessity, reasonability and circumstances.
Supplementary Provisions: These Rules shall come into force on May 19, 2006.

Rules for Rewards from IKEA Family
Article 1 (Purpose)
1.Rules for Rewards from IKEA Family (hereinafter referred to as these “Rules”) stipulate the terms of use for the rewards program (hereinafter referred to as the “Rewards Program”) offered by IKEA JAPAN K.K. (hereinafter referred to as “IKEA”) to customers who have registered as IKEA Family members in accordance with the Rules for IKEA Family Members and other methods designated by IKEA (hereinafter referred to as “Member” or “Members”).
2.When using the Rewards Program, the Members shall comply with these Rules, the Rules for IKEA Family Members, the IKEA Terms and Conditions for Sale of Products (general terms and conditions), the IKEA Terms and conditions for Sale of Products (Online etc. Shopping Service Transactions Agreement), and other rules, terms of use, and guidelines established by IKEA (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Rules and Other Provisions”).
3.Any terms not defined in these Rules but defined in the Rules and Other Provisions shall have the same meanings in the Rules and Other Provisions.
Article 2 (Granting of Points)
1.Members will be granted points (hereinafter referred to as “Point” or “Points”) upon the purchase of the Products or the achievement of other interactions and activities as determined by IKEA.
2.Members must undergo identity verification (including account authentication) in advance to earn Points. For identity verification, in the case of earning Points online, Members must be logged in to their My Page on the IKEA website or shopping app as IKEA Family members. When earning Points at IKEA stores, Members must present their digital IKEA Family card (two-dimensional code) or physical IKEA Family card.
3.If the identity verification in the preceding paragraph is not carried out appropriately and in a timely manner by the Member, the identity verification or granting of Points shall not be carried out later due to technical reasons, even if the Member has a receipt or other evidence.
4.In addition to the cases stipulated in Paragraph 2, when IKEA deems it necessary, IKEA may request the presentation of identification to confirm the Member’s identity for the purpose of preventing fraudulent use, such as impersonation by a third party, and for the appropriate operation of the Rewards Program.
5.Granted Points may not be transferred, assigned, exchanged for cash, or refunded after choosing a reward.
Article 3 (Use of Points and Unlocking of Rewards)
1.Members may use the Points they collected to unlock rewards in accordance with the Rewards Program (hereinafter referred to as “Reward Use”).
2.A valid IKEA Family account that is capable of logging in to the IKEA website is required to check the content and conditions of each reward and to use each reward.
3.Once a reward is chosen and confirmed, the number of Points required to unlock the reward will be deducted from the Member's Points balance, and the reward that was chosen will be sent to the Member's registered email address.
4.Under no circumstances shall the refund of the corresponding Points be requested once a reward is confirmed. Even if a Product acquired or purchased using a reward is canceled or returned, neither the refund of Points used to unlock the reward, nor the refund of the reward may be requested. However, if the cancellation is made before the completion of delivery of the Product purchased using the reward, the reward will be refunded and the equivalent of the Points granted for the purchase of the Product using the reward will be deducted from the Member’s Points balance.
Article 4 (Points Adjustments and Validity Period)
1.If a Member returns a purchased Product or cancels a purchase and sales contract of product in accordance with the Rules and Other Provisions, the Points equivalent to the Points granted based on the price of the Product at the time of purchase will be deducted from the Member's IKEA Family account. When calculating Points, the Points deducted may be more than the Points granted at the time of purchase. In addition, if the Points balance becomes negative, IKEA may request payment of the corresponding amount in cash.
2.If the Points or rewards granted to a Member under these Rules are later discovered that they are obtained as a result of a violation of these Rules, fraud, or other illegal or improper purposes, unauthorized use or abuse of Member qualifications, or in connection therewith, or if the Points are granted due to an error on the part of IKEA or if IKEA determines that the granting of Points is not appropriate, IKEA reserves the right to cancel or invalidate the Points, rewards, or other benefits granted to the Member.
3.Points are valid for eighteen (18) months from the date they are granted to the account. Points that have passed their duration of validity will automatically expire. In addition, if the original expiration date of the Points has passed before the time of the Point refund, the Points will not be refunded.
Article 5 (Limitations of the Rewards Program)
1.If the Member does not agree to the content of these Rules or the handling of personal information as stipulated in IKEA’s privacy policy, the Member may not participate in the Rewards Program.
2.IKEA Business Network members are not eligible for the Rewards Program. The IKEA Business Network and the Rewards Program may not be used together.
3.IKEA may change the Point granting conditions, the number of Points to be granted, and the content and terms of use of rewards at any time.
4.The Rewards Program is only available for the named Member. IKEA may verify the identity of the Member at the time of Reward Use, and may refuse Reward Use if it is suspected that the Reward Use is being made by someone other than the Member. Members warrant that all information required for the use of Rewards Program, such as name, address, telephone number, and email address, is current and accurate for identification purposes. The handling of personal information acquired by IKEA shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Policy.
5.Points may only be used to unlock various rewards under the Rewards Program. Points may not be transferred or exchanged for cash.
6.IKEA shall not be liable for any damages or disadvantages incurred by Members due to the inability or delay in providing the Rewards Program, including sending and receiving emails, due to reasons beyond IKEA's control, such as earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, storms, floods, lightning strikes, other natural disasters, war, riots, civil unrest, terrorism, labor disputes, enactment, amendment, or abolition of laws and regulations, orders or dispositions by courts or administrative authorities, diseases, epidemics, cyberattacks, power outages, suspension or accidents of transportation, interruptions or malfunctions in communication lines or communication environments such as the Internet and telephone, or other reasons.
7.Depending on the Member's location and communication environment, some or all of the Rewards Program may not be available.
Article 6 (Interruption or Suspension of the Rewards Program)
IKEA may interrupt or suspend all or part of the Rewards Program without prior notice to Members if the provision of the Rewards Program becomes impossible due to any of the following reasons:
(1) S Experiencing issues including, but not limited to failure, malfunction, and accident on servers, communication lines, or other equipment;
(2) Inability to use the Rewards Program due to causes including, but not limited to system failure;
(3) Events including, but not limited to regular or temporary maintenance, inspection, repair, or modification of systems, equipment, and related facilities;
(4) Emergencies including, but not limited to fires, floods, other natural disasters, and power outages;
(5) Occurrence or possible occurrence of technical or security problems; or
(6) Other reasons that IKEA deems unavoidable for the operation of the Rewards Program.
Article 7 (Suspension of Use and Termination of IKEA Family Membership)
1.IKEA may, without giving any notice or demand whatsoever, suspend the Member's use of the Rewards Program and terminate both the Membership Agreement and the Member's membership pursuant to the Rules for IKEA Family Members if the Member falls under any of the following:
(1) The Member has made a false statement to IKEA regarding the use of the Rewards Program;
(2) The Member has caused any hindrance to the operation of the Rewards Program;
(3) The Member has committed an act or use that constitutes a violation of laws and regulations, fraudulent use, abuse, or other acts that IKEA deems inappropriate, or there are reasonable grounds to believe that the Member is likely to commit any of the foregoing;
(4) The Member has not made any new purchases using the IKEA Family membership number for forty-eight (48) months (four (4) years) counted from the most recent date of purchase using the membership number (the most recent date of purchase recorded in the IKEA’s system);
(5) It is recognized that the Rewards Program is likely used for criminal or other illegal purposes; or
(6) The Member has violated any of the provisions of these Rules.
2.If the use of the Rewards Program is suspended, membership is terminated, or other measures are taken pursuant to the preceding paragraph, Points and rewards will be forfeited and the Rewards Program will no longer be available. IKEA makes no compensation and assumes no responsibility for those Points or rewards that are forfeited.
3.Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraphs, participation in the Rewards Program will automatically terminate and Points and rewards will be forfeited when the Member cancels their IKEA Family membership. However, any debts that have already accrued up to the termination shall survive until such debts have been fulfilled.
Article 8 (Prohibition of Transfer)
Members shall not assign, transfer, or encumber their status as a Member or any of their rights or obligations under the Rewards Program to any third party.
Article 9 (Language)
These Rules are made in Japanese and translated into English. In the event of any inconsistency between the Japanese version and the English version, the Japanese version shall prevail.
Article 10 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)
1.These Rules shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
2.Any dispute arising between IKEA and a Member shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District (Summary) Court or the Osaka District (Summary) Court in the first instance.
Article 11 (Amendments to these Rules, etc.)
1.IKEA may amend these Rules if it deems it reasonably necessary by announcing such amendments to Members on the IKEA website or by other methods deemed appropriate by IKEA. Unless otherwise specified, such amendments shall be effective from the effective date specified in the announcement or otherwise. In addition, IKEA may suspend or terminate the operation of the Rewards Program following a certain period of notice.
2.IKEA shall not be liable for any inconvenience or damage caused to Members as a result of the preceding paragraph.
