To troubleshoot your IKEA Home Smart system at home, try the steps below.

When a smart product appears in the app, it may not connect to your smart home system properly. In that case, we recommend that you take a closer look at your smart home system.

Check your Wi-Fi connection

·         Smart products need a stable Wi-Fi connection to communicate with the hub.
·         Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the hub.

Reboot the system

To re-recognize the entire smart home system, restart the device in the following order:
1.       Restart your Wi-Fi router
Unplug the power cable for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and restart the router.
2.      Restart the DIRIGERA Hub
Unplug the power cable and plug it back in to restart the IKEA hub.
3.      Turn your phone back on
This will restart your phone and erase any stuck data.

Before connecting the product again

We recommend that you reset your product to factory settings before attempting to connect again. This ensures that both your home systems and smart products are in the best condition for new connections.

How to factory reset:

Press and hold the system button on your device for 10 seconds to reset it to factory settings. For smart lighting, follow the instructions in the IKEA Home smart app and turn the lights on and off 6 times at a specific rhythm.

General connectivity advice

If you're still having trouble connecting your smart product, you may want to check other devices and settings that may affect your home's overall connectivity.

(temporarily) remove other Thread border routers

If you have a home with multiple systems or brands of products, you may need to temporarily disconnect the device from the other company to establish a stable connection.
Follow these steps to connect:
1.       Unplug the power cable from the other Thread Border router.
This includes Google Nest Hub (2nd gen), Apple TV (2nd gen, and later).
2.      Try connecting smart products.
Connect your products using the IKEA Home smart app.
3.      Reconnect the power cable of the Thread Border Router.
This will rebuild the Thread mesh network.

Set your Wi-Fi router to IPv6

·       IPv6 allows smart products to communicate easily and securely with the rest of your home system.
·        Most routers are set to IPv6 by default, but you can check in your router's settings.

Set your phone's Wi-Fi network to 2.4 GHz

·         The 2.4 GHz network provides a wider connection range, so it can communicate with smart products in hard-to-reach locations.
·         To change your phone's Wi-Fi network to 2.4 GHz, open your phone's settings screen.

If the product goes offline

Smart products need to communicate with your hub and home systems. If the connection is interrupted, the product will be marked as offline in the IKEA Home smart app.

Check the power supply

·         The most common cause of a product going offline is that it is not turned on. For smart lighting and similar products, make sure the wall switch is turned on, for example.
·         For battery-powered devices, the IKEA Home smart app notifies you when the battery is low.

Restart the DIRIGERA Hub

·         Unplug the power cable and plug it back in to restart the IKEA hub.
