When was IKEA founded? Where does the IKEA name come from?

IKEA was founded in 1943. The company name IKEA comes from the initials of our founder Ingvar Kamprad and the first letters of the farm Elmtaryd and the southern Swedish village of Agunnaryd, where Ingvar Kamprad grew up. Ingvar Kamprad was only 17 when he registered the IKEA name as a trademark.
