Choosing more sustainable materials
We are continuing our journey towards absolute decoupling of virgin, non-renewable material use from IKEA business growth. We aim to increase the share of recycled and renewable content in IKEA products to at least 90% and to provide new solutions for our customers to prolong the life of products and materials.

The many qualities of wood
Wood is an excellent material from a design and quality perspective – provided it’s responsibly sourced. It’s an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage.
Only recycled or renewable-based plastic in IKEA products by 2030
We have phased out all single-use plastic from the home furnishing range and are working towards eliminating plastic from our product packaging. Our goal is to only use plastic from renewable or recycled sources, which reduces waste and gives the product several lives through use and reuse.
Committed to better cotton
All cotton used in IKEA products is from more sustainable sources. This means it’s recycled or grown with less water and pesticides. Good for the farmers and good for you.
The many benefits of bamboo
As a material, bamboo is both strong and versatile. This is why we’re using more of it to create beautiful, durable IKEA products.
Responsibly sourced wool
We’re on our way to only using responsibly sourced wool, meaning that the wool comes from sheep that are treated well, and land that is managed responsibly.
