Refresh and improve with decorative cushions for your sofa

A few decorative cushions for your sofa can help you make big changes, without a lot of time, effort or money. You can add comfort, freshen things up and create a living room that’s more personal and unique. Here are some tips to help you use decorative cushions and cushion covers to get the look you want.

A throw and three cushions, including one with a BLÅMUNKAR cushion cover with large black dots, lie on a FRIDHULT sofa-bed.

A cushion combination with a pattern at its centre

You can make a big impact with cushions or cushion covers with striking patterns, like these embroidered flowers. And here’s a way to enhance the effect. Complement the patterned cushion with other cushions, and maybe even a throw, in solid colours that echo some of the colours in the pattern. Your patterned cushion will stand out from the others but won’t clash with them.

A DYTÅG throw and three cushions, including one with a flowery FACELIOR cushion cover, lie on an EKTORP sofa.
A FLIKBRUNÖRT throw and some cushions, including one with a multicolour TRATTKAKTUS cushion cover, lie on a HYLTARP sofa.

Want to give your sofa a colour boost?

Why not add a big splash of warm colour to your sofa with a cushion or two? You get a different look in an instant and extra comfort, too. And you can repeat this with cushions or cushion covers in other colours whenever you feel like a change.

Mixing and matching patterns

If you love patterns on your cushions, why not mix and match a couple and double your enjoyment? Here, cushion covers with flowery and geometric patterns are combined with a cushion cover and a throw with solid colours. They have the same colour palette and that holds everything together.

Spice things up with different materials

When you decorate with cushions, it’s not just the colours, patterns and shapes that create the effect. It’s the material, too. Here, the black and off-white cover is made of cotton, while the multicoloured one is made of wool. They look and feel different. Linen or corduroy will also make their own distinctive impressions.
