How to care for a CALATHEA

The care level

When choosing your plant pay attention to your lifestyle and the care level of that plant. Some might need a little more care than others. But they all have a chance to grow and thrive in your home.

Let's get to know Calathea

The Calathea are native to Brazil and can be quite slow growing. They come in a variety of different shaped leaves and almost as many colours, often with variegated patterns. Top tip: when the leaves are hanging or rolled up, your Calathea will need some water.

Conditions

Place in a light area, out of direct sunlight.  Calathea can also thrive in shady areas. They love humid air and benefit from being near a humidifier.

Watering

The growing medium should be kept moist, but can dry out a little between watering. Give it less water during the dormant period, usually in winter.

Minimum temperature 15°C

A lower temperature could affect the plants
