Change of fitting methodDerekWe have previously bought several LACK small floating shelves and have been very happy with the ease of fitting. However a set of five shelves bought recently suffered from a change to the method of fitting to the wall. It is now virtually impossible to get a perfect fit and as a result two of the shelves were damaged.
LACK lacking screws and a smooth fixing solutionStephenThe LACK shelf looks great but fixing it to a wall leads to a few problems.
It requires a particular shape of screw which is not supplied with the shelf and is not included in the handy box of screws you can get in IKEA (it's usually in the vicinity of the bargain corner in my local IKEA). So you're left with the odd choice of trying to find a screw that does fit or adjusting the part of the shelf that engages the screws at your disposal.
The next problem (assuming you can put the screws in the wall at the correct separation, which requires a knack) is to decide how far the screws go in the wall far enough so that the screw holds the shelf tight against the wall but not so tight that you can't slide the shelf on to the screws without scraping paint off the wall.
On balance, this could be better done.
I think the longer LACKs have specific fixing for attaching and that might work better.
Also, it's the wrong thickness for their clamp-on bedside light NAVLINGE (or the clamp is)
Awful to put up would not recommendSusanBrackets are useless on the back they need to be changed in order to put on the wall correctly
