Disappointing Build Quality, Feels IncompleteLukeI found these cabinets to be quite disappointing in terms of build quality. The panels feel flimsy, and the overall structure lacks the rigidity you would expect. In fact, it almost feels as though the design is missing a component or two that would provide the necessary stability. As a result, the cabinets do not inspire confidence in terms of durability or long-term use. For a product intended to offer storage and withstand daily handling, I expected a sturdier and more reliable construction.1
Not sure why the low reviewsAdaBought it and looked at reviews after, so I was a bit concerned at first. Decided to put it together anyway and I am so confused as to why people are giving it such low reviews. We followed the instructions to the t and it came together beautifully. Fantastic quality for the price. Make sure you take your time, read the instructions and have a friend when building. Secure it to the wall and, if using it as part of a living room display/TV stand, to other frames as stated in the instruction manual. Bear in mind you will need your own wall screws when securing it. They are not supplied since they will vary depending on what your wall is made from etc. My one suggestion is that the wall securing mechanism used with skirting boards is too short. We did not use it as we removed the skirting boards, but if we needed it, that would be a problem. Perhaps IKEA could look into that as our skirtings are only 2 cm wide. Should be easy to just make these screw on attachments longer. 5
Terrible Quality PaulI expected something far more robust for the price. The bookcase is wobbly and unsafe. It’s a monumental task to get the back board inserted, and it’s unsupported (just slotted in). Disappointing! I will be returning 1
Really really bad. Be awarePiotrI use besta single cubes for years, have many many of them at home and they are good. 99% of furnitures in my home are Ikea's and I love them. Have probably 30 years of experience with IKEA stuff and never had a complain. BUT this one is terrible. I think the only way to save more money on production of this unit would be making it of cardboard packaging and sellotape. It's soo cheaply made, material and design wise. The frame is so flimsy that even when fixed to the wall feels like it's gonna fall apart just from looking at it. The back of the cabinet only loosely slides into the frame, not fixed with nails and does not provide any support. Walls, top and the bottom are connected only with 4 plastic screws (top and bottom) and two (?!?) hooks on each of two shelves which are loose like the back- just sitting there.Whith doors fixed the walls bow straight away so I'm afraid to put toys in it. The unit on display must be fixed with more than two fixing points as it doesn't look as bad.1
Very disappointed RajniWe have purchased this unit with glass and wooden doors ..the frame is not steady once the doors are connected. Doesn't look as good as in the showroom .waste of money. 1
HV5QJL- showrrom model-stay awayBrianI purchased this along with the glassdoors like in the showroom in Dublin. The whole frame is loose and fall to one side causing the doors to slouch - 200euro wasted! 1
super easy to build - as always...Jasonfitted perfectly, as did the shelves, boxes, etc... ordering can be awkward at times, but overall a great purchase....5
Wobbly as standaloneBrianDissapointed with the stability of this as a stand-alone unit. There are only four screw-and-tightener points at the top and bottom and due to the length of the unit, this means there is signficant "sway". I have added 6 shelves (IKEA state 2 minimum), but this doesn't affect the fact that I can apply a small bit of pressure on either side to shift the shape of the unit. It would likely work better when connected to other units for additional stability. Similarly securing it to the wall through the holes at the top would also provide additional stability. However, as stand-alone unit, the sway is significant enough to be dissapointing. The unit leans towards one side or the other, depending on which side you apply a small bit of pressure, but unfortunately never settles in the middle (where you want it). Some additional supports to ensure the frame stays squared and plumbed would be nice!2

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
