IKEA to open Plan and Order Point in Carlow

As retailer continues to invest into lowering prices
IKEA’s Plan and Order Points are specialised stores focused on bespoke kitchen and wardrobe design planning. These outlets offer customers access to home furnishing advice and expertise, supporting them in designing, buying, and installing their ideal kitchens and bedrooms. The first Plan and Order Point in Ireland was launched in Naas in 2021, with subsequent openings in Cork, Drogheda, and St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre in Dublin.
We’re excited to bring a touch of Swedishness and affordable home-furnishings to parts of Ireland where we’ve not yet had a physical presence before. In the Plan and Order Points, we design dream kitchens at an affordable price. They’re also a fantastic place for us to help people living far away from our store in Ballymun with their other IKEA purchases, such as ordering a sofa or a wardrobe.”
Martyn AllanMarket Manager, IKEA Ireland
IKEA is also ramping up its investment in its store in Ballymun. This month, a major €4.5m project to upgrade the store’s façade and carpark will commence. Inside the store, the retailer has just opened an all-new children’s department as well a refurbished bedrooms department.
The new children's department promises an adventure with lively circus tents, intergalactic rocket ships, thrilling slides, and enchanting giant dollhouses, all designed to encourage better play and sleep for the young ones. This sets a new standard, creating what could be the best IKEA children's department in the world, located in Ballymun. The bedrooms department has been meticulously designed after a thorough analysis, including multiple home visits to Irish households, to meet the dreams and needs of people in Ireland.
IKEA also confirmed that its new Customer Distribution Centre in Rathcoole, Dublin will open later this spring. The Distribution Centre will bring much faster deliveries to Irish customers, reducing delivery times from about 7–10 days today to 2–3 days once up and running.
Price reductions to continue
Over the last few months, IKEA has announced price cuts on almost 2,000 home furnishing products, including iconic products such as the KALLAX shelf and MALM chest of drawers. Today, the retailer is rolling out even more new lower prices, this time on almost 500 products, for example, OMTÄNKSAM shoehorn, from €3.50 to €2, and BRIMNES day-bed frame, from €329 to €239. The price reductions are a long-term change to become even more affordable to the many people in Ireland.
In addition to the price reductions, IKEA is offering slashed prices in its restaurant. Until the end of August this year, IKEA is offering favourite main meals* for half price every Friday at its restaurant in Ballymun. On other days, up until February 25th, IKEA Family Members can buy any kids meal from 95c and get the corresponding adults' meal for half price.
The announcement of IKEA’s continued expansion plans and price investments comes as the global CEO, Jesper Brodin, visits the Ballymun store.
It’s exciting to be here in Dublin and to see first hand the success the Irish team have built up. People in Ireland love their homes, and it’s a privilege for us to help create even better Irish homes with well-designed, sustainable, and affordable home furnishings. Ireland is a special market for us and even if we haven’t been present that long, we see huge love for IKEA here. I think this comes down to Irish people’s sociable nature and desire to create homes where they can be together with family and friends.”
We’re excited and optimistic about the future. Our main focus right now is to continue to lower our prices as well as expanding to more places, to make it even easier to shop with us.”
