Live Lagom: Living Lagom with Anna
You don't have to make dramatic changes to improve the wellbeing of yourself, the quality of your life, and ultimately, your world. As Anna found out, the little things can have a big impact too.

What does Lagom mean? Lagom comes from the Swedish phrase “Lagom är bäst” (the right amount is best), which we believe is the secret to sustainable living.
"I used to spend an enormous amount of money on food, and at the end of every week I would be throwing lots away. So my goal for Live Lagom was to reduce food waste.
The changes were so simple but made a huge difference. I chose lots of food containers to help keep my food fresh longer and store leftovers that I can reheat for an instant ready meal."
Five simple steps to reduce food waste
- Plan your meals and take a shopping list with you to the supermarket. It will help you avoid impulse buys and ensure you're only putting what you need in your trolley.
- Keep track of what you're throwing out over the course of a week. If you find you're binning half a loaf of bread, it's probably time to change your shopping habits, or think about freezing half the loaf once you've bought it.
- Avoid clutter in your fridge and freezer. Store food and leftovers in appropriate containers and label and date them so you can easily see what you've got and what needs to be used up first.
- Fresh produce doesn't have to be thrown out just because it's passed its best. Soft fruits can be used in smoothies or made into jams, and old vegetables are great in soups or curries.
- Get creative! Invent your own recipe once a week to use up what you've got in the fridge and store cupboard.
Bright Idea
"By batch-cooking vegetables, dividing it into portions and storing it in small microwaveable containers, I have healthy side dishes ready to heat up."
