In line with the WEEE Regulations, we offer free collection of your old appliances on a like-for-like, one-for-one basis. For example, will collect a fridge upon purchase of a fridge. However, we could not collect a fridge on purchase of a washing machine. T&Cs apply.

If you'd like to take advantage of this option, simply inform us when placing your order in-store or when arranging home delivery.
For online orders, please complete your order, then contact us on 01 696 6246 or through the webchat service on our Contact Us pages, with your order number. We can arrange for your appliances to be collected*.
We will notify you at least 24 hours in advance of your delivery/collection window. Please ensure your appliance is disconnected, clean and dry**, and ready to be collected by our delivery team.
If you're unable to disconnect the appliance in time for your scheduled collection time, your collection will be cancelled. You will still be able to return the appliance to the IKEA store for recycling.

Battery recycling

Legislation introduced in 2008 (The Batteries and Accumulators Directive, 2006/66/EC) now gives you the opportunity to return your waste batteries to our store free of charge.

This is available in the customer services area of our store
Please note that waste batteries must never be placed in your own waste disposal or recycling bins
It relates to batteries similar to the type that we sell e.g AA, AAA and rechargeable batteries. We do not take waste car or industrial batteries
Batteries should not pose a hazard to our co-workers (i.e must not be leaking etc)

How to recycle electrical products free of charge at IKEA

You may recycle your old electrical items free of charge by returning them to IKEA Dublin, subject to the following conditions:

For every Electrical product you purchase from IKEA we will recycle of one free of charge.

The electrical item to be recycled of must be of an equivalent type or have the same function to the item purchased e.g. You buy a Fridge freezer and we will take back a fridge freezer.

The disposed electrical item must not present a health and safety risk to the store staff.

If you are having a large electrical appliance delivered we will give you at least 24 hours notice of delivery of the new appliance, and at the same time offer to take away the old disconnected appliance, on the same day.

If we have given 24 hours notice and your appliance is not ready, or you decline the collection, you have up to 30 days to return it yourself to the Store for recycling.

If less than 24 hours notice of delivery is given and where it is not ready for collection, we will arrange to collect the item of WEEE within 15 days of delivery having given a minimum of 24 hours notice of collection.

You can return your old electrical item up to 15 days from the date of purchase of the new item, or if it was delivered to you, up to 30 days from the date of purchase.

You must show the original receipt for your new electrical item when returning the old electrical item in-store

The item needs to be empty of water or other materials such as food in the case of refrigeration equipment.

Before you decide to dispose of your old electrical equipment, please make every effort to arrange for its re-use, especially if it is still in working order.

Free recycling waste management act 1996

IKEA will take back your WEEE on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis, free of charge at the time of delivery or at any one of our stores in Dublin. Waste batteries are taken back in store on a one-for zero basis (i.e. no purchase necessary) as long as they are of equivalent type to that sold by us. WEEE and waste batteries can also be returned to your local civic amenity site free of charge.
