Electrical recycling service

WEEE - White Goods collection service

In line with the WEEE Regulations, we offer free collection of your old appliances on a like-for-like, one-for-one basis. For example, will collect a fridge upon purchase of a fridge. However, we could not collect a fridge on purchase of a washing machine. T&Cs apply.

  • If you'd like to take advantage of this option, simply inform us when placing your order in-store or when arranging home delivery.
  • For online orders, please complete your order, then contact us on 01 696 6246 or through the webchat service on our Contact Us pages, with your order number. We can arrange for your appliances to be collected*. ​​
  • We will notify you at least 24 hours in advance of your delivery/collection window. Please ensure your appliance is disconnected, clean and dry**, and ready to be collected by our delivery team.​​
  • If you're unable to disconnect the appliance in time for your scheduled collection time, your collection will be cancelled. You will still be able to return the appliance to the IKEA store for recycling. 

*every effort will be made to collect your old appliance(s) at the same visit as the delivery of your new IKEA appliance(s). However, in some circumstances it may be necessary for the collection of old appliance(s) to take place separately from the delivery.

​​**It is at our transporter partners sole discretion what is deemed clean and dry. If appliance is not deemed clean and dry your collection will be cancelled and will not be re-booked. You may still be able to return your appliance to the local store.

 

Battery recycling

Legislation introduced in 2008 (The Batteries and Accumulators Directive, 2006/66/EC) now gives you the opportunity to return your waste batteries to our store free of charge.

  • This is available in the customer services area of our store
  • Please note that waste batteries must never be placed in your own waste disposal or recycling bins
  • It relates to batteries similar to the type that we sell e.g AA, AAA and rechargeable batteries. We do not take waste car or industrial batteries
  • Batteries should not pose a hazard to our co-workers (i.e must not be leaking etc)
  • Battery recycling is free

Free recycling waste management act 1996

IKEA will take back your WEEE on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis, free of charge at the time of delivery or at any one of our stores in Dublin. Waste batteries are taken back in store on a one-for zero basis (i.e. no purchase necessary) as long as they are of equivalent type to that sold by us. WEEE and waste batteries can also be returned to your local civic amenity site free of charge. Never put WEEE, batteries or light bulbs in any of your household wheelie bins.
