Support for DIRIGERA hub and IKEA Home smart app

Not always. Some products, like bulbs, remotes and motion sensors can be paired directly with each other without the app or Wi‑Fi. If you want app control, routines, multi‑room setups, voice control or to mix older and newer devices, then DIRIGERA is recommended.

The DIRIGERA hub connects to your Wi-Fi router with the included ethernet cable.

• Open the IKEA Home smart app
• Tap Add product
• Scan the product’s Matter QR code
• Follow the steps in the app

Smart bulbs are ready to pair for about 15 minutes after powering on. Remotes and sensors enter pairing mode when you press their system button 4 times.

For the first connection, keep your phone, hub and product close together. After setup, products communicate using Zigbee, Thread or Wi‑Fi, depending on type.

Check your Wi-Fi connection

• Smart products need a strong Wi-Fi connection to communicate with the hub.

• Make sure your mobile phone uses the same Wi-Fi network network as the hub.

Restart your system. 

To give your entire smart home system a nudge, restart the equipment in the following order:

1. Restart your Wi-Fi router. Remove the power cable for 30 seconds and reconnect to restart a router.
2. Restart your DIRIGERA hub. Remove the power cable and connect again to restart any hub from IKEA.
3. Turn your mobile phone off and on again. This will allow your phone to start up again and clear any stuck data.

Before trying to connect a product

• We recommend that you factory reset the product before trying to connect again. This ensures that both the home system and smart product are in the best condition to make a new connection.

If after checking your Wi-Fi connection, restarting your system and factory resetting your hub, you still have issues connecting a smart product, we recommend looking at other areas or settings that can impact general connectivity in the home.

Disconnect other Thread border routers (temporarily)

• For homes with multiple systems and brands, you may need to temporarily disconnect their devices so we can make a stable connection.

• Follow the steps to connect:

1. Remove the power cable to any other Thread border router. This includes Google Nest Hub (2nd generation), Apple TV (2nd generation +) or similar.
2. Try to connect your smart product. Use the IKEA Home smart app to connect the product.
3. Connect the power cable to your Thread border routers again. This will allow the Thread mesh network to rebuild.

Set your Wi-Fi router to IPv6

• IPv6 will allow your smart products to communicate with the rest of your home system in a simple and secure way.

• Most routers are set to IPv6 by default, but you can check this in your router settings.

Set your mobile phone Wi-Fi network to 2.4 GHz

• A 2.4 GHz network provides a larger range of connectivity, meaning it can communicate with smart products in hard to reach places.

• To change your mobile phone Wi-Fi network to 2.4 GHz, go to settings in your phone.

Factory resetting

1. Push a pin into the pinhole on the underside of the hub until the status lights turn off.
2. The centre light will then blink red 4 times when the hub is ready. 

Note – this deletes all previous hub information.

The DIRIGERA hub has two lights, a ring light and a centre light. 

• Ring light – loading. Shown when the hub is connected to power and is starting up. Wait for the light to fill the ring before proceeding with connecting the hub to the app.
• Ring light - softly pulsing white. This is shown once your hub has finished starting up. You can now follow the instructions in the app to connect your hub.
• Centre light constant white. Shown when the hub is connected to the internet and everything is OK.
• Centre light double-blinking white. Shown when the hub is disconnected from the internet. You can continue to control your devices through the app and your home WiFi network.
• Ring light – spinning white. When your hub is updating or busy processing a large amount of information.
• Rebooting your hub. Disconnect and reconnect the power to your hub to reboot it. The ring light fills to symbolise loading while starting up. This will not delete information on your hub.

Smart products need to communicate with the hub and home system. If the connection is interrupted, the product will appear offline in the IKEA Home smart app.

Check the power source

• The most common reason for a product going offline is a lack of power. For smart lights and similar products, check that the switch is turned on.

• For battery powered devices, the IKEA Home smart app will notify you when the battery gets low.

Restart your DIRIGERA hub

• Remove the power cable and connect again to restart any hub from IKEA.

If you have already purchased smart products from IKEA, these can be connected to the DIRIGERA hub and managed in the IKEA Home smart app.

We are working to improve the smart home system and making it better for the many people. Therefore, as new features, standards, and safety improvements are added, in time older products may no longer be supported by the DIRIGERA hub. 

Yes! All products that work with our TRÅDFRI gateway will work on the DIRIGERA hub, i.e. lights, blinds, outlets, air purifiers, remotes, motion sensors and more. It supports Matter, Thread and Zigbee, meaning both new and older IKEA smart products can work together in one system.
