Nordic Swan Ecolabelled products at IKEA
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is the Nordic region’s official environmental label. It is only granted to products that meet stringent environmental, health, quality and functional requirements.

What is a Nordic Swan Ecolabelled kitchen like?
- The wood in a kitchen with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel is either recycled or sourced from traceable and controlled sources.
- A kitchen with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel meets the strict requirements set for chemicals that are harmful to health. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel imposes bans and strict restrictions on various chemicals used in paints and adhesives, for example.
- The Nordic Swan Ecolabel sets limit values for the energy consumption of the production of wood panels and laminates.
- A kitchen with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel has also passed quality tests, which means that the kitchen has a warranty of at least ten years and spare parts are available for 10 years.
- A kitchen with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel must be repaired and recycled. For example, that the kitchen parts are designed so that they are easy to dismantle, separate, replace, repair and recycle if necessary.
What does this mean in an IKEA kitchen?
- The wood used in IKEA kitchens is either recycled or FSC-certified. The chipboard used in our kitchens is made from recycled wood and sawmill waste. The fibreboard we use is made from surplus wood from the wood processing industry.
- We offer spare parts for our kitchens and the kitchen parts are recyclable.
- IKEA kitchens have a 25-year warranty.
