What layouts are possible with a METOD kitchen?

METOD kitchens adapt to every space and lifestyle. You can design your kitchen to fit your home perfectly.

Think about how you use your kitchen and what feels comfortable for you. Think about what you like about your existing kitchen and what you would change. It can be helpful to make a list of the things you want to keep and what you want to replace.

Next, use the guide below to find out which kitchen shape suits you and your needs best. If you have limited space, your best options are at the top of the list. If you have a lot of space, you might want to consider the options at the bottom of the list.
  • Linear kitchen
Linear kitchens are perfect when space is limited, they are simple, sleek, and look great. In this layout, all the kitchen cabinets and appliances are placed in a straight line along a single wall.
  • Parallel kitchen
Parallel kitchens are ideal if you have a small room with a door or window at each end. There is also plenty of space for food preparation and storage. In this layout, your kitchen is divided over two opposite walls, with one side usually dedicated to the sink and the other to the cooking area.
  • L-shaped kitchen
L-shaped kitchens make the most of a corner. In this layout, your kitchen is divided over two walls that meet in a corner where the kitchen worktop is connected. Usually, one wall is dedicated to the sink and the other to the cooking area.
  • U-shaped kitchen
If you have a large room, the U-shaped layout is ideal. This offers maximum space and plenty of storage space. In this kitchen solution, your kitchen is divided into three walls that meet in two places in a corner, where the kitchen wotktop connects all three sides.
  • Kitchen with an island
A kitchen island brings extra storage space, plenty of work space and often becomes the social hub of your kitchen. Depending on the size of your kitchen, you can combine it with other layouts – even in an adjacent room. Make sure that there is at least 120 cm of distance between the kitchen island and the wall cabinets so that everything can be used comfortably.
