Bring joy home

Every year we reach out to people around the world to find the meaning of life at home today, and how we can help make it better. That's what the IKEA Life at Home Report is all about.

This year, we discovered that finding enjoyment at home makes us happier and more optimistic – but also, that over 1 in 3 of us aren’t getting enough of it.

At IKEA, we believe that more joyful home moments are within reach. Through simple, affordable and meaningful actions that don’t cost the earth.

Feeling good

How can you make your own healthy, happy home?

In today’s world, mental and physical wellbeing are essential pillars of a happy, fulfilling and healthy home life. But what do 'wellbeing’ and a ‘healthy home’ really mean? The answer is, of course, personal. From 10,000 steps and plant-rich diets to 30-minute rests and plant-rich rooms – it’s all about individual preferences and choices. And the simple, affordable changes we can make to help us feel authentically good.

Environmental wellbeing

Valuing your relationship with your surroundings can work wonders for wellness. While you can’t always choose the environments you live, work or play in, it’s the small steps and choices you can make that count.

Napping matters

Our research proves it: sleep is number one for nurturing wellbeing at home. Whether it’s an eight-hour slumber, a five-minute doze or an occasional afternoon of bedrotting, you can always rely on your bed to make you feel good.

Having fun

Can you rediscover the power of playfulness?

Those who think that play is just ‘kids’ stuff’ might want to think again. Hobbies and playful or creative activities can be powerful tools for adults too. As well as enhancing our wellbeing and helping us find balance and perspective in life, dedicating time to what we enjoy can positively impact how we see ourselves, our futures, and our connections with others. It’s all about the small moments that bring a touch of magic into the everyday.

Building vibes

How can you put your ‘self’ into your space?

Our research has taught us that when we feel ourselves at home, we enjoy our homes more. At a time when the world feels increasingly unpredictable, expensive to live in, obsessed with looks and actions, can our homes become the haven for us to simply ‘be’? Finding and building our own ‘vibe’ is about giving our spaces the freedom to be as unique as we are, and finding the joy in making small but meaningful improvements.

A home that reflects me

Feeling like we belong where we live is part and parcel of enjoying home. It’s all about the small things that make it feel ‘ours’: an object, a detail, a touch of vibrant dopamine decor or calming biophilic design maybe. Whatever your style, you can find inspirational ideas for every corner of your home.

Making connections

What ways can you find to share quality time?

Moments of human connection help make us tick, they help the days go by. Whether through shared meals, laughter, or connections with ourselves and loved ones at home, embracing simple rituals and nurturing community bonds can make home life more fulfilling. Through technology we can also achieve the same kind of connections at a distance. It’s all about finding those everyday moments of warmth and connection, and simple ways to make it happen.
