A floating shelf as a versatile wall organiser

Wall shelves not only offer more space when your book or CD collection grows. They are generally happy to carry everything for you that no longer fits in cupboards or chests of drawers. And sometimes there are also favourite CDs or books that you deliberately want to attract attention on your walls. Wall shelves are then the perfect solution. They also scream decoration and make your home a lot cosier. So whether you need more space or want to make your four walls more cosy: Take a look at our range now and find a bookcase to suit your taste!

Create more storage space with a floating shelf from IKEA

Not every room is big enough to accommodate large storage systems and wall units. However, wall shelves fit into any room. And depending on how many things you want to store, you can combine as many wall shelves as you like. You can use storage boxes or baskets to store small items or objects that you don't want to be seen. Use your wall shelf for practical standing files so that you have the most important documents ready to hand in your home office or use your wall shelf as a pedestal for your plants if they don't get enough light in other places.

Your wall board as a bookshelf

Because special stories often need a special place, we particularly like it when one of our wall boards is used as a bookcase. A narrow bookcase is suitable for large books, for example, which you can then stack vertically up to the ceiling. You can store all your favourite books on a long book shelf - from small Reclam books to 1000-page novels by Stephen King. If you also use bookends on a bookshelf, you can prevent one of them from falling on your head. (A Reclam book might not be a knock-out hazard, but we're not so sure about Stephen King books).

Your bookcase in the right colour

Our wall shelves are available in different colours. Here are our tips for choosing the right colour:

Wall shelf in white

A wall shelf in white adds brightness to your room. The colour can also be wonderfully combined and therefore used flexibly. Books in particular are shown to their best advantage on a white wall shelf. Tip: For a minimalist design, you can line up only white books on your white wall shelf; for a playful design, you can arrange your books by colour.

Wall shelf in black

Compared to a white wall shelf, a black wall shelf adds elegance and timelessness. If you already have several pieces of dark-coloured furniture, a black wall shelf is ideal. Use bamboo or rattan storage baskets to create a little contrast and make your room cosier.

Bookcase in beige

Our wooden wall shelves in beige take the cosiness factor in your room to a whole new level. Combine it with plants and home accessories, pictures or candles and the room will take on a rustic country house character.

Make your walls more beautiful with a floating shelf

Wallboards not only help you to store lots of items, they are also perfect for decorations and plants. And if you want to add a few posters or frames to your walls but don't want to drill any additional holes, you can easily place them on your IKEA wallboards. Leaning them against the wall will give your pictures a new style and, in combination with the wall boards, give your living space more lightness. Combine everything with a few candles to create a cosy atmosphere. Wall boards also look particularly good above chests of drawers and sofas. When mounting them above seating, just make sure that you maintain a certain height so that you don't bump your head

Tip: With a little shelf lighting, you can add a little extra light to your IKEA wall shelves.
