IKEA Kohoku

sustainability
the NEVER ENDING job

We have decided to help create a world where we take better care of the environment, the earth’s resources, and each other. We know that sometimes we are part of the problem. So, we are working hard to become a part of the solution. We are weighing the pros and cons, continually examining and changing things. All these steps, in lots and lots of areas, add up to something big … and noticeable. The job has already started, and it is a never-ending one.

We don't waste!
Recycling

Most IKEA stores provide collection points for customers to return waste, such as electrical and electronic equipment, discarded packaging, spent batteries and low-energy bulbs, for recycling. IKEA Kohoku has ecycling bins near exit and also in the lighting sales floor.

IKEA attempts to repair products rather than simply discarding them. These products are used as spare parts or sold at reduced prices in specially designated areas of the store.

Minimizing waste
AS-IS, 1F outlet corner

We are selling the products which was used for display or a big damaged for a very reasonable price at ASIS.
Please stop by and check before going to cashline.

For the environment...
SUNNAN lamp

For every sold SUNNAN lamp, IKEA Social Initiative donates a lamp to UNICEF and Save the Children to distribute to children in India and Pakistan to help them play, read, write and study after dusk. So far, over 500,000 lamps have been donated.

SUNNAN lamps combine low energy LED technology with solar cell panels. Since there’s no need for electricity, you can use it anywhere indoors. Just charge the panel for 9-12 hours in the sun and get three hours of full lamplight.

Vaccines for world's children
Collect pet bottle caps!

Every year, as many as 1,400,000* children under age 5 die from one of six major diseases. Those diseases are, polio, measles, tetanus, TB, whooping cough and diphtheria. All are preventable. And that many children can be saved if they are vaccinated.

IKEA Kohoku is collecting pet bottle caps and by donating them, we can send vaccines to world's children. Please bring the caps and post them in our recycling bins in the store.

Our initiative
Mar 27th EARTH HOUR 2010
