IKEA expands the ongoing chocolate recall by 6 further products, which are not suitable for persons allergic or sensitive to hazelnut and/or almond.

    27-07-2016

IKEA wants customers who have bought one or more of the affected chocolate products to be informed that these products are not suitable for persons allergic or sensitive to hazelnut and/or almond and are therefore being recalled by IKEA.

Product safety and quality are of highest priority to IKEA and the global recall concerns all best before dates of the affected products.

The presence of hazelnut and almond has been frequently and not only occasionally detected, which underlines that these chocolate products are not suitable for consumption by those who are allergic or sensitive to these allergens. The product information does not state this frequent presence clearly enough as the product labels only state “may contain”. Therefore IKEA is recalling these products globally.

The products are safe for anyone not allergic or sensitive to almond and/or hazelnut.

Concerned customers are welcome to return the affected products for a full refund. Please either visit the Exchange and Returns department at the nearest IKEA store or call Customer Services on 015413302 to return the products. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

IKEA recalls PATRULL safety gates for risk of children falling down stairs

    23-06-2016

IKEA urges customers who have a PATRULL safety gate to immediately stop using it and to bring it back to any IKEA store
    for a full refund.

IKEA has received customer reports where PATRULL safety gates have opened unexpectedly and children have fallen down stairs. Some of the incidents have required medical attention. A third party investigation has shown that the locking mechanism is not reliable, posing a risk for small children, despite approved tests to applicable standards.

“At IKEA, we have a zero tolerance regarding child safety. We want to offer safe products and we believe that children are the most important people in the world. Whenever we are made aware of a possible safety issue with our products, we investigate thoroughly. We cannot accept that there could be a risk of injury while playing and as an immediate and precautionary action we have decided to recall all PATRULL safety gates” says Maria Thörn, Acting Business Area Manager at Children’s IKEA.

IKEA is not willing to risk children’s safety and therefore urges all customers that have a PATRULL safety gate to immediately stop using it and to bring it back to an IKEA store for a full refund.

Please visit our Returns department or call Customer Services on 015413302 to return your PATRULL safety gate for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required.

IKEA recalls LATTJO bat cape due to risk of strangulation or injuries to the neck

    06-04-2016

IKEA urges customers who have a LATTJO bat cape to immediately stop children from playing with it and to bring it back to any IKEA store for a full refund.

IKEA is recalling LATTJO bat capes after reports about three children that have received marks and scratches on the neck while using LATTJO bat capes. The cape got stuck and didn’t detach easily enough from the children’s necks.

No injuries which required medical treatment have been reported, but due to the risk of strangulation or injuries to the neck, IKEA takes precautionary measures and recalls the product.

LATTJO bat capes have been sold in all IKEA markets except Russia and Indonesia since November 2015.

The LATTJO bat cape can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required. For more information, please contact IKEA on 015413302.

IKEA recalls GOTHEM lamps due to the risk of electric shock

    17-03-2016

IKEA urges customers who have a GOTHEM lamp to immediately stop using it and to bring it back to any IKEA store for a full refund.

IKEA is recalling all GOTHEM floor and table lamps due to a risk of electric shock, after some examples of damaged cables in the lamps have been found. Damaged cables can lead to the metal body of the lamp becoming electrically live creating a potential safety hazard.

Even if the lamp is working, we urge all customers who have a GOTHEM lamp to immediately stop using it and to return it to any IKEA store for a full refund.

All three models of GOTHEM lamps – two table lamps and one floor lamp – are affected by the recall.

IKEA has not received any reports of people getting hurt, but has had incident reports from two customers and one store co-worker having received electric shocks. Safe products are always an IKEA priority and we cannot accept the risk of any more incidents. We are therefore recalling the GOTHEM lamps to avoid injuries and to create awareness of this hazard.

The GOTHEM lamps have been sold on all IKEA markets since October 2015.
The GOTHEM lamps can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required. For more information, contact IKEA 015413302.

IKEA recalls LATTJO drum sticks and LATTJO tongue drum for choking hazard

IKEA urges customers who have LATTJO drum sticks or LATTJO tongue drum to bring them back to any IKEA store for a full refund.

    14-01-2016

IKEA urges customers who have LATTJO drum sticks or LATTJO tongue drum to bring them back to any IKEA store for a full refund.

This is a precautionary recall due to 6 reports from IKEA store co-workers that the rubber ball of the drum sticks can detach or be unscrewed. The recommended age for these toys are 6+ yrs old, however a loose rubber ball can attract smaller children and in worst case lead to choking. No incidents have been reported.

The products are tested and approved to applicable toy safety standards. However, during our subsequent investigation we identified risks that the standards do not address.

“We develop products intended to stimulate children’s creativity and natural need for play. Children don’t think about safety when playing, so we need to do that when we develop products. Our mindset at IKEA is that we only sell products that we would give to our own children. Despite approved tests to relevant toy safety standards we are therefore precautionary recalling LATTJO drum sticks and LATTJO tongue drum to avoid the risk of any incidents,” says Cindy Andersen, Business Area Manager for children’s products at IKEA.

LATTJO drum sticks and LATTJO tongue drum have been sold on all IKEA markets since 1st November 2015.
The LATTJO drum sticks and LATTJO tongue drum can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required for a full refund. For more information, please visit www.IKEA.ie/ or contact IKEA on 01 541 3302.
