New in children’s lighting: the playful KRUX lamp

Light up young imaginations at the flick of a switch with cute new light KRUX – available to buy now as a desk or wall lamp.

Is it a dog, giraffe or horse? Let kids decide! The KRUX light has been designed in the shape of a creature, with an adjustable head and neck to point light where it’s needed.

A portrait of Monika Mulder.

Working on KRUX was a lot of fun for designer Monika Mulder, who always finds creative ways to make practical designs fun to use. ‘I aim to create functional objects that are playful and pretty,’ says the award-winning designer behind Children’s IKEA favourites such as SMASKA and LÖMSK.

Being switched on to children’s safety requirements was also a priority for the team behind KRUX – the process was guided by the IKEA zero-tolerance policy to health risks. KRUX has been tamper-proofed to protect little fingers, and all its safety features, like the built-in LED bulb, were tested to meet or exceed safety standards. After the lamp has made its way home to you, look out for the self-adhesive fasteners provided so that you can fix the light cord safely to the wall.

KRUX is available to buy now. The Children’s range has everything you might need for little people, including lighting.
