Home visit: move the sofa to make a difference

So often we put up with the small, ‘not-quite-right’ things in our home, when a change as simple as switching the sofa to a new spot would make daily life a lot better – as Anne in Denmark discovered…

Before and after

‘Our sofa used to be a three-seater that we had facing the TV. We’re a family that is small one day (two of us), big the next (seven) and all the numbers in between. I had a dream for our living room to be a family lounge room, where we all had space to sit and chill and talk at the same time,’ says Anne. The first step was moving the TV to another room so that we could flip the sofa against the wall. Then we added an extra module to the sofa that we can move around to provide more comfy spaces for everyone. Now we are spending more time together doing family activities instead of just watching TV!’

A sofa for all the family

‘There are many reasons why I love this change!’ says Anne. ‘I always wanted a sofa where the whole family could be together. Now we are actually together in here, rather than just TV-watching. And having the sofa face away from mine and Jonas’ bedroom makes that space ours again!’
