A zero-emissions future

As part of our sustainability strategy, we are committed to drastically reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the IKEA value chain. This includes transitioning to zero emissions vehicles for home deliveries and providing zero emission transport options for our customers.

Here at IKEA New Zealand, we have big goals to achieve a zero emissions future

Zero Emission Delivery

We are aiming for 100% zero-emission delivery in Auckland in 2025, we’re working to expand this across New Zealand in line with the IKEA global target of more than 90% by 2028.

Customer and co-worker travel

By 2030, we aim to reduce emissions by 40%* from co-worker and customer travel globally. *From 2016 as the base line

What's our fulfilment approach?

To support our delivery partners, we have dedicated 60kW and 100kW chargers for delivery vehicles at our store and warehouse.

We have an electric truck to move goods from the warehouse to the store for customer orders.

We are a member of Drive Electric, and are working closely with the electric vehicle industry, our delivery partners, governments, and the business community to unlock a zero emissions future in New Zealand.

We’re committed to a zero emissions future, and leading the transformation to get there. By working with business, industry and government, we hope to overcome barriers and unlock opportunities. Because when we move together, we move faster.

Local actions in New Zealand

For our customers and coworkers on two wheels, we have storage facilities for bikes and scooters.

We encourage customers to travel to the store via public transport, with access available nearby. We will also have vehicle sharing options onsite.

We have 25 x 7kW AC chargers available, to support our customers reducing their vehicle emissions with electric vehicles.

We’ve invested in a 1MW solar system at the store, and when we need more electricity than that– we ensure it’s from a renewable source.
