Getting the most from a wardrobe

Whether you need a new wardrobe or just an update to the one you have, here are some tips about wardrobe organisation so you can always pick out the right outfit.

What size should you go for?

It’s good to think about how much you have to store and to measure the space where you’re going to put your wardrobe.

Organising inside – folding

A wardrobe is a big box – it’s how it’s organised inside that helps you see and get your things. Shelves are great for things that you can fold up and stack. A drawer can be a perfect for your T-shirts and accessories.

Inside a PAX wardrobe, a lot of folded clothes sit on shelves or inside a drawer, along with a pair of shoes on a shoe shelf.

Organising inside – hanging

Hanging things like shirts, dresses and jackets means fewer wrinkles and gives you a good overview so you can see what you have and get some outfit inspiration. You can arrange your clothes by type – all jackets together and so on, or even by colour.

Hanging works for accessories, too

Hanging them up is an easy was to see things like scarves, ties and accessories.

Boxes in your wardrobe are great for keeping seasonal clothes out of your way until you need them again.

There’s more space on top

You can turn the top of your wardrobe into organised storage with some boxes.

Putting your clothes in the spotlight

Lighting inside or on top of your wardrobe helps you get a better overview of your clothes and find things quicker. Lights on top can also give you a nice, soft background light when they reflect off the closed doors.

Mirrors that give you more

A large mirror is really a dressing area essential. A lot of IKEA wardrobes come with mirror doors and of course you can find plenty of mirrors to put on your wall, too. Or why not go for a standing mirror like here?
