Great storage systemJeffI've bought multiple side units now and I've not had a single issue. The wood is consistently straight.
The uprights are finger jointed to cut down on costs, but finger joints reduce warping over time and are equally strong when bearing weight vertically. The mortice and tenon joinery is very strong, the dowels are tapered because the holes are purposefully offset. This pulls the wood components together as you hammer the dowels in, making for a much stronger and tight joint. This in my opinion is better than the preassembled versions of these that used glue. Just make sure you use the supplied scrap block of wood to prevent marking with your hammer/ mallet.
I would highly recommend these side units. They are inexpensive, very consistent and can even be modified to a custom height. Just make sure to line the holes up.

1/4 planks somewhat straightMichaelI ordered 2 side units, 3 out of the 4 planks are massively warped.
The other one is somewhat warped.
Probably packed / shipped or stored in a way so they get bent.
underestimated hero pieceJoLove the IVAR range - sturdy, easy to put together (once you know the crossbar placing), strong.
Love the modular nature of this - can literally go anywhere from garage to bedroom. Bought for teenagers so that they can have decent furniture to take in their futures and use however they need. Smells great too.
