Too fragile. Managed to break it on the first use :(TraceyThe clips that hold the base into the glass globe can really easily break the glass if you're not super careful. I was holding the globe to move the lamp aside and the cord must have caught on something briefly I think (I didn't even feel it) and the bottom just pulled right out and took hunks of glass with it. Don't be like me, hold from the base and be super vigilant when moving it! The springs holding the base to the globe are also quite strong and could easily shatter the glass if they spring open when you're inserting the base. It also looks quite cold and clinical when the light is off since it's just white glass, so if you prefer a warm aesthetic, maybe try another style. I won't be buying another.2
Nice addition to the living room atmosphereMiaIt is something I was looking for in terms of size and features, to place in the entertainment unit (which is also from IKEA). Very nice and good quality, and thanks for alerting me when it became available.5

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
