Living room

Many Kiwis felt the living room is the centre of the home

The living room is most used for gathering with family and friends and relaxing and also the place for activities like reading, yoga, gaming, children’s play and watching TV.

The living room is also where many treasured and cherished items are displayed. Kiwi families desire a space that mirrors their identity and embodies warmth for family and friends. 18% find it challenging to create this.

Sometimes I think my house is a mess and nothing matches, and it looks really weird. Then I look at it and think, actually, everything is here because we like it and that makes it ours. I also have a glass showcase. I like collecting little antiques and items.

Kiwis often desire adequate storage and organisation solutions

With many different activities occurring in this space, Kiwis often desire adequate storage and organisation solutions for things like toys, exercise equipment, books, games and soft furnishings like pillows and throws.

Most homes lacked functional and mood lighting to support different activities and create atmosphere. In the meantime, many Kiwis look to get natural light into the house.

“It’s super important to allow natural light in – as you can see, all these doors are glass, and windows too.” - Brianna
