How it works
- Create a free Zilch account here
- You’ll need an access card to complete your registration. Go to the Customer Returns area to pick up your card and add the access card number to your account. The card is yours to keep for future bookings, no need to return this card.
- Fill in your booking details, including the date and time and choose your preferred vehicle.
- You will get a SMS message to advise you which van is yours and contains a link to allow your to manage your booking.
- Head to the dedicated parking bays and use your access card to unlock your vehicle.
- If available, you can extend your booking time via the link in the SMS. Extra charges may apply.
- Once you’re done, park your van back at the dedicated van hire base, lock the van, end your booking via the link and you’re all set.
If you’re an IKEA Family member, you can get 15% off when you hire your electric vehicle through the loyalty hub.

Good to know basics
- Make sure you have a valid driving licence; you will need this before your first bookings starts
- You will need to have a credit card loaded to your account.
- Fifteen minutes before the start of your booking, you will get a text message link to manage your booking.
- The driver must be aged twenty one (21) years or over and have held a full current driver licence for a minimum of three (3) years.
- Overseas drivers must have been in NZ for less than 12 months and hold a full overseas driver licence or international driver permit that is in English, or has an accurate English translation with validity of a minimum of three years or longer.
- Zilch offers 24/7 Roadside assistance for it's members: 0800 2 ZILCH
- The Private Member is responsible for the Vehicle during the Booking period. Terms and Conditions apply.
