How can I troubleshoot my IKEA Home Smart system?
Sometimes a smart product appears in the app but doesn't connect correctly to your home system. In this case, we recommend that you take a closer look at your home's smart system.
Check your Wi-Fi connection
- Smart products need a strong Wi-Fi connection to communicate with the hub.
- Make sure your mobile phone is using same Wi-Fi network as the hub.
Reboot the system
To give your entire smart home system a push, restart your equipment in the following order:

- Start Wi-Fi-ruter Again
or Remove the power cable for 30 seconds and plug back in to restart the router. - Start RE-DISTRIBUTE hub
or Remove the power cable and plug back in to restart an IKEA hub. - Turn around Mobile phone on and off again
or This will allow your phone to boot back up and erase any stuck data.
Before you try to reconnect a product
We recommend that you Factory reseter of the product before trying to connect again. This ensures that both the home system and the smart product are in the best possible position for a new connection.
How to reset to factory settings:
Factory reset by holding the system button on the device for a long time for 10 seconds. For smart lights, follow the instructions in the IKEA Home smart app to turn the light on and off 6 times at a specific rhythm.
General Advice on Connectivity
If you're still having trouble connecting to a smart product, we recommend looking at other areas or settings that may affect overall connectivity in your home.
Disconnect other Thread border router (temporarily)
For homes with Multiple systems and brands, you may need to temporarily disconnect their devices so that we can make a stable connection.
Follow the steps to connect:
1. Remove the power cable to any other Thread border router
or This includes Google Nest Hub (2nd generation), Apple TV (2nd generation +) or similar.
2. Try to Connect your smart product
or Use the IKEA Home smart app to connect to the product.
3. Connecting the power cable for your Thread border router again
or This will allow the Thread mesh network to build back up.
Set your Wi-Fi router to IPv6
· IPv6 will enable your smart products to communicate with the rest of your home system in a simple and secure way.
· Most routers are set to IPv6 by default, but you can Check this in your router settings.
Set your phone's Wi-Fi network to 2.4 GHz
- A 2.4 GHz network provides a Greater Range of Connectivity, which means it can communicate with smart products in places where 5gz doesn't provide a stable connection.
- To change your mobile phone Wi-Fi network to 2.4GHz, go to Settings on your phone.
If the products go offline
Smart products need to communicate with the hub and home system. If the connection is lost, the product will appear offline in the IKEA Home Smart app.
Check the power source
· The most common reason for a product to go offline is a lack of power. For smart lights and similar products, Check that the switch is turned on.
· For battery-powered devices, the IKEA Home smart app will notify you when Battery gets low.
Restart your DIRIGERA hub
· Remove the power cable and plug back in to restart an IKEA hub.
