“Home idea with IKEA”: a tiny room for growing dreams
Interior designer‘s task:
- Divide the room into several functional zones for studying, relaxation, reading, creativity and play.
- Plan convenient and organised storage for clothes, books, toys and building blocks.
- Create a cosy yet not overly childlike interior.
- Avoid cluttering the already small 14-square-metre space with furniture.
The orange DYVLINGE armchair, with a lovely daisy-shaped cushion and a floor lamp, adds a playful touch to the room and makes a cosy spot for reading.
Layer your lighting: a ceiling light with a colour-changing bulb works well for general and mood lighting, a directional lamp by the desk is perfect for studying, and a cosy bedside light is ideal for reading or relaxing.
The desk in Greta’s room was customised individually – with specially chosen legs and a wide tabletop, providing enough space for both homework and LEGO projects. A foot-rest under the desk helps maintain good posture, while the adjustable chair can easily adapt to the needs of a growing child.
On one side of the desk, an ALEX drawer unit replaces the standard legs. The drawers contain extendable KACKLA boxes to keep writing tools and craft supplies organised and easily accessible when needed.
Above the desk, we installed EKET shelves and the SKÅDIS pegboard – a practical and stylish solution to keep everything tidy. For added flexibility, there’s the ÖVNING trolley with textbooks and homework supplies, which can be easily moved to another spot or even another room.
