This work area supports remote sales and delivers a variety of services, such as interior design and kitchen planning for private and business customers. Customer Support Centre co-workers have the option to work from home.
IKEA Distribution Centre Yatomi
IKEA's distribution center in Japan receives IKEA products from suppliers around the world and ships them to warehouses in IKEA stores around the country. This work area is committed to maintaining product quality and efficient transportation, not only to stabilize store inventories and provide a better shopping experience for our customers, but also to reduce the impact on the environment.

The Service office serves as a head office and provides each store and centre with the support it needs to run a successful retail business in Japan to deliver better everyday lives to customers and co-workers. Using their expertise and speciality, each function collaborates across work areas.

Remote Experience Design
Remote experience design takes on and drives transformations in various areas to make the remote experience better for our customers, such as improving the knowledge of our co-workers, information analysis, the services we provide, our internal processes and digital tools.
Planning, Scheduling & Intraday
Planning, scheduling & intraday prepares work shifts that reflect the needs of our businesses and co-workers so they perform in the most effective and efficient ways possible. They also monitor customer needs and business conditions in real time to ensure optimal staffing and role changes as needed to improve service and meet targets.

The Warehouse
The Warehouse is the heart of the distribution centre and takes in the right IKEA products coming from overseas, stores them in the Warehouse, and then ships them to IKEA stores. Every co-worker has a forklift certification, and each team comes together to run day-to-day operations.
Operation Support
To make operations at the distribution centre as efficient as possible, they optimise gate plans for attaching containers and storage methods in the Warehouse to minimise movement in the least expensive and most eco-friendly way. They also check our products so that we can deliver safe, high-quality IKEA products to our customers.
Customs
Customs is in charge of making sure our products are cleared at customs and imported. They prepare and review many types of forms and certificates which are needed to clear customs before a ship calls at a port of entry to ensure smooth customs clearance and importation of IKEA products while maintaining compliance. Their work involves other national and international projects, such as modifying IKEA's operations systems and importing materials and products for new stores in Japan.

Business Navigation & Operation
They partner with every work area in the IKEA store to support store management in every respect, whether it be finance, administration or accounting. Business navigation & operation is instrumental in steering stores towards growth, optimal performance and lasting profitability in the long term.

Customer Fulfilment
Customer fulfilment develops, monitors and refines solutions to optimise our supply chain. They build the basis for IKEA's omnichannel approach, including setting up processes across many channels which enable products to be delivered seamlessly to customers in response to their diverse needs.
Digital
Digital leads the implementation of a range of digital tools for IKEA customers and co-workers (such as store systems, the online store and apps). They ensure a pleasant omnichannel shopping experience by supporting customers with digital tools. They also provide post-implementation system support and maintenance.
Commercial
Six teams make up the commercial work areas: Sales, Marketing, Home furnishing & retail design, Customer experience, Food and Consumer & customer insight. Commercial contributes to developing the business by making our customers' first encounter with IKEA convenient, unique and inspirational.
People & Culture
IKEA's business revolves around people. The People & Culture team deliver a better everyday life to customers and co-workers by sharing IKEA values and upholding IKEA's distinctive corporate culture.
