As I read before buying it had a synthetic smell and someone who sleep head down to pillow was feeling bad when woke up. It's not a problem let it breath after you open packages and change your sleeping habits for your health sake. My pillow now doesn't have any smell. The only thing you should consider before buying not only this but any product like this it's consider your body/head/neck sizes. I am 160/48 so I think it's a little high on the one side, so I only use the other side. Softness/elastic is 10/10. It's a great money/quality deal. I recommend.5
