How to get it

A bunk bed is perfect when you need 2 sleeping places on a small area. This one has passed the same tough safety tests as all our other bunk beds. It’s just a little lower – and cheaper.

Product details

By having a bunk bed instead of two single beds, you free up some much-needed square metres on the floor for playing and other activities.

Easier to make the beds and give your children a good-night hug since the bed is lower than other bunk beds.

A good solution where space is limited.

It’s easier to get in and out of the bed with a centered ladder.

The children can put their own stamp on their little nook of space by choosing bedding that they like.

Nightmare to buildDanielleInstructions not clear, screw missing and very difficult to build1
Bunk beds looked taller and bigger in photos AndrewAbsolutely horrendous to build instructions where very unclear and made no sense at all and when doing the mesh was the hardest part to do 1
Lovely sturdy bedCiaraNice sturdy bed only thing is top bunk bars aren't very deep so you would need a farely thin mattress or child might fall over it .. very complicated to make my husband had to read instructions well beforehand and he never does that!4
Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!FrancesThe worst piece of Ikea furniture we’ve ever had to assemble. If I had read reviews beforehand I never would have bought it. As everyone else has said the mesh is a nuisance to fit and the screw holes don’t align with it. I’d suggest several large stiff drinks but I fear that might make the situation worse especially when doing the contortionist part. They look good when finished but we’d never buy another set. We hope grandchildren appreciate the effort and that we have aged 5 years in the space of 2 evenings. 2
One part is in wrong lengthAnonymous reviewerI would say it's a quality and good design product. unfortunately, one pole on the up bed is 10 cm shorter. try to contact IKEA help online which it takes ages and no response. not happy.1
Tricky but AchievableNicolaI read online this was awkward and complicated to put together but also that it was sturdy so I took the risk and got it. It was just myself putting this together with a handy screwdriver. I enjoy flatpack assemblies, and yes this one is a challenge when doing it solo because of its awkward size and trying to line up bars/poles with no support so I would recommend an extra set of hands just to hold bits in place. The mesh material was also tricky at times, patience needed! It took me about 5 hours, with half hour wasted correcting the configuration for corner I wanted to put it in. Instructions were spot on, all pieces fitted and there was no requirement to shave any screws as mentioned in other reviews. I am satisfied with the final product, very sturdy.4
Tuffing ReviewDerekNice Looking Product but support bars making it very uncomfortable1
MehDerekGood value for money instructions are shite as usual difficult to build once built with a few spare bolts I had cause IKEA left me short I was happy enough4

Accessories for TUFFING

TUFFING bunk bed, black metal frame, heart bedding, compact, safe, low.

A bed for new perspectives

Life is pretty good here at the top of the bed. Teasing younger siblings can be kept at a distance, and when mum or dad says good night, the height is just perfect for a hug. Both bunk beds and loft beds are good choices when you want to create more space in a smaller area. With TUFFING, we also managed to make more bed from less material.

We made TUFFING bunk bed and loft bed of stable steel and mesh fabric, and somewhat lower than other bunk beds. It means less use of material and that each bed weighs less to transport.

Kids don’t think about safety, so we do

By centering the ladder, the loft bed became more stable. The ladder also serves as a guard rail for the bunk bed – because children’s beds should be safe places, no matter if you are in the middle of play or deep in the world of dreams. That is why our children’s beds undergo rigorous furniture tests. The industry’s safety standards are very strict, but we take it further. When working with TUFFING, we focused especially on avoiding gaps and openings where small hands and feet can easily get stuck. When we had a model of the bed, it underwent two weeks of intense fatigue tests where the bed frame was continuously exposed to strong forces.

A place for kids to recharge

Throughout the design process we took part in research results from Dr Barbie Clarke, a child psychologist with many years of experience in research about children and their development. She explains the role of the bed: “When we do global research, the children we interview often say that their bed is their favourite part of the home. It is something they can call their own; ‘This is mine, my space’. Even if they share a lot of other things, the bed is often a private area that helps them work out who they are, rest and recharge.”

Material

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.

Lowest price

Don’t let the price fool you

TUFFING bunk bed has passed the same strict safety tests as all our other bunk beds. We just used other materials, made it lower and replaced the guard rail with the ladder. All to make it exactly as safe to sleep in – just a little cheaper.
