IKEA return policy
We’ve listed everything you need to know about our generous IKEA return policy here; this policy applies the same to every customer and sales channel.
It's okay to change your mind at IKEA. Sometimes an item that looked perfect on the web or at the IKEA store doesn’t match expectations in your home, office, or garden. We make it easy for you to return your purchase, regardless of how or where you bought it.
You have 365 days from the date of purchase to return the item you bought from IKEA in new and unused condition, along with the original proof of purchase (receipt or invoice), to your local IKEA store. We’ll refund you for the full purchase price. This return policy does not apply to cut and piece goods such as fabrics and kitchen worktops, or to green plants or items from our Zweite-Chance-Markt.
Our return policy does not affect your statutory right of cancellation or statutory claims arising from defects.
Returning unopened IKEA products
You can return any unopened IKEA product within 365 days for a full refund on the purchase price. So there’s no rush, no complicated terms and conditions. Just bring your proof of purchase on paper or in digital form.
Returning opened IKEA products
If you’re not satisfied after your purchase or change your mind, we’ll take it back opened but unused within 365 days – even if they’ve been assembled. Just show us your proof of purchase and we’ll give you a full refund.

These guarantees do not apply to mattress toppers, ENGAVÅGEN spring core mattresses, SÄBOVIK mattresses, sofa-bed mattresses, baby and children’s mattresses, or mattresses (only) sold together with a bed frame for a single price such as MOGREINA box spring beds.
This does not affect your statutory right of cancellation and statutory claims arising from defects.
How to exchange an IKEA mattress
Just bring the mattress you purchased together with the receipt or invoice as proof of purchase (receipt or invoice) to your IKEA store within 365 days after purchase. We’ll help you find another mattress or refund you with a voucher for the full purchase price.
