Are poufs and ottomans the same?

Poufs and ottomans are not the same, but they are very similar. A pouf is often smaller, softer, and mainly serves as a decorative seat or footstool. An ottoman, on the other hand, is sturdier, more versatile, and can also offer storage space or function as a table.

Why is an ottoman so versatile?

Every home can make great use of an ottoman. It offers seating, storage and style, all in one elegant package. Bring it out when entertaining guests to provide an extra seat. Put down a tray on top and it becomes a snack table for family movie night. A sturdy ottoman can also double as a comfortable footstool (which can help maintain the family peace on sofa chaise lounge seating disagreements).

Are poufs comfortable to sit on?

Poufs are generally comfortable to sit on as poufs are softly padded. Poufs are particularly well-suited as flexible seating when guests are over or for putting your feet up in the living room. However, compared to an armchair or chair, poufs don’t provide back or side support, which makes poufs less suitable for longer sitting periods.

Poufs, Ottomans and Footstools in Many Styles

In addition to their practical and versatile functions, ottomans, poufs and footstools can also serve as beautiful decorative furniture pieces. In our collection, you’ll find ottomans, poufs and footstools in bold colors, with distinctive textures, and in eye-catching shapes that instantly stand out. A rattan pouf, for example, can create a rustic contrast in a room that is otherwise heavy on textiles. Or a blue velvet footstool or ottoman can bring a luxurious lounge atmosphere reminiscent of a hotel into your living room.

We also offer simple ottomans, poufs and footstools for a more understated look. A plain grey footstool, a black pouf or a neutral-toned ottoman blends seamlessly with most interior styles and can easily be matched with your sofa or armchair.

How would you like to use your pouf or ottoman?

When adding a pouf or ottoman to your home, always consider where and how you plan to use it. The context will determine which pouf or ottoman is the right choice for you. Different materials not only convey different styles but also come with their own pros and cons. Leather poufs and ottomans, for instance, are easy to wipe clean in case of spills. However, leather or leather imitations can be slippery, making them less ideal for placing snacks, drinks, or tablets on top. A cotton or fabric pouf is better suited for creating a soft and cozy extension of your sofa. Ottomans made of sturdier materials like rattan or wood, on the other hand, are more practical if you’d like to use your ottoman as a coffee table. Whatever your needs, you’ll find the perfect pouf or ottoman in our collection.
