    Using LED strip lights throughout your home

    Lighting is an important element of any home, influencing the look, feel, ambience and functionality of a space. From table lamps to ceiling lights, there is an array of options to consider for every room and situation. Our white and colored light LED lighting strips are among the most fun and flexible types of lighting we offer, giving you room to creatively experiment in any room!

    Some popular places to put LED strip lights include…

    • In the bedroom: Around and above headboards; under the bed; tracing a doorway or mirror; along a gallery wall of photos and mementos; illuminating an armoire or chest of drawers.
    • In the kitchen: Around windows; above the sink; underneath and inside kitchen cabinets; above tall cabinets.
    • In the living room: Behind bookcases and TVs: highlighting arches or other architectural details; behind furniture, wall artwork and picture frames; along the staircase.

     

    What different types of LED strips are there and what purposes are they suitable for?

    You can get the VATTENSTEN light strips in colourful or white versions. If you want to dim your LED strip, the MYRVARV LED light strip offers a creative solution for your individual lighting concept: the LED strips can be connected to the TRÅDFRI driver and a wireless dimmer. Since these light strips emit very little heat, they are also suitable for use as integrated lighting.

    What light colours and settings are possible with LED strips?

    With the colourful LED strips from IKEA, a wide variety of lighting scenarios are possible: automatic colour changes, a specific light colour, or a dimmed light in changing shades. This way, you can use the lighting to influence the atmosphere in the room. Soft light helps you wind down in the evening, while changing bright colours create a cheerful mood.

    Cutting LED light strips to the right length

    Our strip lights are offered in generous lengths that can be easily trimmed (by an adult!) to the perfect length for your project or desired placement. Before starting, be sure your lights are unplugged from a power source. Each set of lights features specific markings indicating where the lights can be safely cut without causing damage. Please be sure to only cut along one of the designated lines using sharp scissors.
