Match your drink with the right glass
Did you know that there is a whole science behind why juice glasses look the way they do? Fortunately, you don’t need to dive into the science to match your favourite juice with the right glass. We developed the STORSINT glass series so you have optimal glasses for different juices. But first we needed to thoroughly understand what happens to a juice when it’s poured into a glass with a certain shape – so we took on the help of some experienced sommeliers along the way. Product developer Malin Ljungström shares some facts: “For example, juices should be served in a smaller bowl with a slightly narrower opening. This is so the juice is not affected too much by the air", explains Malin."on the other hand, soft drinks needs a large, round bowl and a relatively wide opening to enhance all the flavours."
How a juice is enjoyed when drinking from a glass is also about the balance between the bowl, shaft and foot. “A good glass should be nice to hold and beautiful to look at”, says Malin.
New insights about juices
For Malin, the collaboration with the expert meant that some of her conceptions about juice changed. For example, that soft drinks or other sparkling juices should always be enjoyed from tall glasses with plenty of room for the bubbles. It's true that sparkling drinks are delicious, but we've learned that juices are more aromatic and can therefore be served in a larger, rounder glass to bring out its full potential," says Malin, adding, "In the world of beverages, there's always something new to learn."
Designer thoughts
Designer thoughts
"When I designed STORSINT, I wanted to make glassware that enhances the enjoyment of drinks. I made the stems thin and smooth so that they're comfortable to hold, and the bowl generous so that aromas and and flavours develop in the best way. I was partially inspired by the fantastic glassware at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. With STORSINT, I wanted to create glassware which suits all occasions, which is beautifully designed – and can be used year after year."
