How does an IKEA kitchen planning appointment work?

This guide explains the chronological steps of your in-store kitchen planning, from initial thoughts to the final plan.

  1. Before you book: To get the most out of your appointment, we recommend preparing. Get inspired by browsing our kitchen styles online and, above all, measuring your kitchen space. Accurate measurements are the crucial first step to a successful plan. We support you in this through our Kitchen services.
  2. Appointment booking: Once you are prepared, you can book your appointment online via our IKEA Website book.
  3. Receive confirmation of your appointment: You will receive a confirmation of your selected appointment by email with further instructions on how to prepare for your appointment. The instructions differ depending on where and when the appointment takes place.
  4. Postponement or cancellation: We understand that plans can change. If you need to reschedule or cancel a new appointment, please try to do so at least 24 hours in advance by using the "Cancel or Reschedule Appointment" button found in the email confirmation. If you can't find this button in the email, you can reschedule or cancel the appointment by typing contacting us. If you wish, you can also switch your in-store booking to a virtual online session by informing the specialist who will contact you before your appointment.
  5. Preparation for your appointment: Please bring your kitchen measurements, any inspiring ideas or images you have collected, and your list of kitchen dreams and challenges. If you've already started a design in the IKEA Kitchen Planner, have your plan number or login details ready so we can access them quickly and easily.
  6. During your appointment: An IKEA kitchen specialist will:
    1. Check your measurements and discuss your needs/wants with you to make sure the plan is functional.
    2. Work with you to create or refine your kitchen design with the IKEA Kitchen Planner.
    3. Help you choose products, including home appliances and custom countertops, that fit your style and budget.
Please note that we do not make recommendations on structural changes to your space, such as removing walls or installing plumbing, gas, and electrical connections. We recommend discussing these changes with an expert.
  7. The result of your appointment: At the end of your session, you'll receive: A 3D design of your new kitchen, a full list of products, a kitchen quote, and an estimate for our delivery and installation service. Your plan will be saved to your IKEA account, so you can access it at any time. If you are ready, we can also help you with the order immediately, but are also happy to give you time to reflect on your purchase and arrange a follow-up appointment for the order at a later date.
