Whenever I buy items like these, I use picture velcro (the kind that snaps together) to mount them to the wall. It works like a charm and makes changing the batteries a breeze. Repositioning the lights is also simple and damage free.

These are fantastic on my stairs, one on every alternate stair on opposite sides. Great for stopping disturbance by those late to bed in the household, no disturbing others by putting on the main light, and they look pretty too
