How IKEA removal service works

  1. Buy the new IKEA products you like and need. Think about what needs to be removed from your home to make room for the new items, and consider if you need our help. The removal service applies to sofas, appliances, mattresses, and beds.
  2. Choose "Removal service" at checkout on IKEA.com or arrange removal with one of our co-workers when you order delivery.
  3. Prepare your items. We do not disassemble, so make sure they can be removed safely and efficiently from your home on the agreed pick-up day. Say goodbye to your old items.
  4. All old furniture is recycled to extract raw materials, donated to companies working for the community's benefit, or incinerated for energy recovery. It's part of our effort to become circular and climate positive. We hope you enjoy your new products!

We accept items for recycling

Bring electronic waste and other items like textiles, cardboard, and plastic when you visit IKEA, and we will help you recycle them – free of charge.

Electrical and electronic products

Deliver electronic waste to the Exchanges and returns desk at your nearest store. We accept large electrical products similar to those we sell, and all small electronic waste such as light bulbs and batteries. Do you have small electronics you want to recycle but live far from IKEA or a recycling station? Contact us, and we will help you send them for recycling.

Textiles
We help collect used interior textiles, clothes, and shoes for reuse and recycling. These can be delivered to the containers in the store parking lot. UFF and the Red Cross will take them further so that the textiles get a new life.

Cardboard and plastic

We have environmental stations at all stores and accept cardboard and plastic that you want to dispose of.
