What can I do if my item was damaged during or after delivery?
If a product has been delivered to you in a damaged condition, please inform about this as soon as possible by contacting IKEA customer service either online, by phone or in store.
We apologize for the inconvenience and we will do our best to help you. There are various options for you when you need to get a replacement or refund for damaged items.
Damage was discovered on delivery
If you or the driver notices the damage while your order is being delivered, the driver can report this to IKEA Customer Service. An employee will then process a damage report and arrange a replacement for you.

If damage is found after delivery, you have other options on how to proceed.

- Replace in stores. The IKEA employee may recommend that you visit the nearest IKEA store with the damaged item, in case you want the damaged item to be replaced quickly and it is in stock.
- Arrange home delivery with a replacement item. An employee can order a home delivery with a replacement product when the item is available for delivery.
- Get a refund. Alternatively, if you decide to get a refund, you will receive a refund to the original payment method used to purchase the product.
Visiting an IKEA store
You can also take the damaged items, along with the order number/receipt, to the nearest IKEA-Warehouses (this does not include planning and ordering points. You have several options for getting help with the damaged product in warehouses:
- Replace the item. An employee can replace the damaged product and provide you with a replacement you can take home, provided it is available in stock. You can check before you go to the store if the product is in stock either on the product page on IKEA.no or by requesting an inventory check via the chatbot.
- Arrange home delivery. If the item is out of stock, or you can't take it home yourself, an employee will be able to arrange home delivery with a replacement product when the item is available for delivery.
- Get a refund. Alternatively, if you decide to get a refund for the damaged item, an employee can also process this for you. You will receive a refund to the original payment method used to purchase the item.
